Question is why do most people care if they ARE taken down. You know damn well 95% of people who are bitching didn't think about those statues a day in their life. Both sides are acting like toddlers who only care about a toy after the other person wants to take it and then they are fighting just to be fighting.

I have a friend who went to UT and said he couldn't tell you where a single statue was on campus they were talking about taking down.

Because people feel too much has been given away already, and other feel not enough has. And when you involve that type of thinking into a group, and have a spotlight put on it..mob mentality takes over.

A single person is smart, a group is usually always stupid.

Wellin that case all Martin Luther king statues need to be torn down too. You can read about him just like the confederate history you are referring to

It's the latest wedge issue.

These things just don't come up organically anymore.

I view the monuments as a reminder of a dark time in American history. The Civil War. A time when our country became divided and formed 2 separate nations, completely pissing away what their grandfathers fought for to create. A piece of history that shouldn't be repeated.

If the statues were placed for intimidation purposes, can you think of a more ineffective way to do it than with a statue?

On top of that, if you really want to send a message, do you think you are going to save money for 20 years before doing it?Sending a message of intimidation with a statue is just stupid, honestly.

Did anyone ever think the timeline with putting up the statues would coordinate with the deaths of the folks the statues depict plus the time required to commission and fund a statue?

Just because someone's opinion is different from your own does not make them a racist

Well as you can see, since they were removed all the blacks have been extremely peaceful and appreciative of the effort to make amends.

Don't care what flavor the protesters favor. Still don't understand how statues are holding them back much less causing emotional pain, or whatever.
