you can try, but I'm not sure how well that would do in court

what arbitrary distinction would we use here?

I don't think you're correct on that.

Not sure. I assume you could make a case regarding how influential these websites have become on a scale of global information flow/access. TD is nowhere near that influential/powerful.

The last time I was on Facebook, they censored my post which was simply my opinion. I couldn't jump off that train fast enough. So glad I deleted it; my mental health improved almost immediately.

You can't be a real liberal and stills support censorship like this. It's a massively conflicting view.
Most of the left are liberal in name only in 2021.

Would have been to Trump’s advantage if both Facebook and Twitter would have done this years ago.

I think in the long run he hurt himself on both of them.

Both Facebook and Twitter were better before they tried to fix what they think caused 2016 election. They both had enough controls to block or hide from main feed people you no longer wanted to see posts from.

But the current context is now fundamentally different, involving use of our platform to incite violent insurrection against a democratically elected government.

So when did President get elected democratically bypassing Electoral College? Fed govt is republican by design. Electoral College will stand as states don’t want one national policy for eligibility (& proving it), ID requirements, security, voting, counting, auditing, time frame, and so on. States are not standardized with same way to vote or count across their own districts or counties (security as well).

Certain groups and politicians have been allowed to do this against cities with actual directly elected head of governments & actual democratic elements with their laws and their police as well as republican forms of govt at Fed & state levels.

It’s like them banning any mentioning of illegitimate election after waving through all the crap the past 4 years.

only read like six posts in and getting general jist of this thread. facebook, private company, twitter, private company. They can ban whatever they want. free speech has not be violated. Trump i sable to say what he wants. the platforms he chooses is up to him, and said platforms dont support it, they can deny.

Twitter and FB are probably going to get substantially more heavy handed in the next 4 years. A Democrat control of the house, senate, and presidency will ensure that no one challenges their legal status re 230 and the left will take full advantage of the situation to create a monopoly of information/propaganda and social media companies will be more than happy to help. I think Youtube is going to see the largest transformation.

like trying to define them as "information monopolies" or something?

obviously

but currently, TD is protected due to Section 230, and if we completely removed or took away some of those protections, it would change TD dramatically

There is no opposing view. Only the correct view.

Again, don't think you have that right. 230 keeps them from having to censor.
