there are 1,683 international students at LSU, thats a little over 5% of the student body. as the other poster from UNO proved earlier, just about every college president will send an email similar to this while this is going on. they have to do something to try to justify their salaries.

A relevant statistic if this actually impacted them in any way.

How many of them does this order concern? A handful at best. Most likely 0 or close to it.

i swear republicans are becoming as whiny/defensive as SJWs these days. I've said nothing about what I think of Trumps order and you guys are crying like i'm attacking him for it. I'm simply stating facts as to why a college president would have sent this email after it. Being seen as "insensitive" isn't good for international enrollment/feels like he needs to justify his position/having foreign students that are here with visas are all valid reasons this falls under his job title

Ok thats just international. Trump's EO doesnt involve every other country besides the U.S.

There is only 2.2% of the LSU student population that is listed as "other" which could possibly be affected by this. And thats literally any other race than asian, white, black, and hispanic.

He should stick to being overpaid and not having to produce anything.

I think the is a difference in the two emails.

The uno president was fairly technical stating that there is/was an event that might have an impact on the university and to contact this office if it involves or concerns u.

F king Alexander goes on a diatribe of feigned outrage and how he prefers when everyone comes together and makes rainbows all the time.

so you are saying noone of any of those races care about this legislation? Leaders from UK, Canada, Sweden, Scotland, France, Netherlands, and Germany have all spoke out criticizing it. personally I agree with Trumps order to kick out criminals here illegally but I dont think the President of any university is gonna come out saying that

I think you underestimate how liberal kids graduating high school these days are.. If a news story came out saying LSU doesn't support illegal immigrants rights (the irony of that) they would have a protest in the quad next week

Just another frickstick Alexander political soap box.

This is the guy that freaked out every legislative session when Jindal was in office. He even went on CNN and Fox News to tell the entire country that LSU was broke and that they will likely have to cut programs. He dragged LSU's brand through the mud EVERY frickING YEAR so that he can increase his national profile and serve his own political ambitions.

Now that Democrat is in the governor's seat, he's going to pivot to bitching about the White House.

A lot of people care about it. Almost 0 at LSU are actually impacted by it.

This was just another excuse for Alexander to get on a political soap box and try to make a couple of headlines. The guy has ambitions far beyond LSU. It's long past time for LSU to let him go.

Because America is no longer taking a huge share of these refugees and they are. Their outrage isn't our concern. Neither is the misinformation that a lot of people are getting from CNN, Daily Kos, Mother Jones, or frickstick Alexander.

No one gives a frick.

His note says there are faculty students concerned about their status and that LSU will protect them.

So either 1) that's some stupid bullshite or 2) the president of our university uses his office as a political soapbox which is bullshite

for sure, but that wouldnt stop a bunch of ~20 year olds from starting a protest or rally in the quad supporting "the people affected by it" (despite them knowing noone)

Did you read the email? Because either your read the email and missed the issue or you didn't read the email and you're just vomitting out your keyboard for no reason.

No one brought politics up except for you. At least, I didn't. I have no idea why you think this is a political issue.

I'm concerned that the president of my Alama Mater is a grandstanding frick head who sucks at his job and enjoys shitting very publicly on the institution itself.

Im saying they arent affected by it. F King is acting like thousands at the University are worried about their status in the US, which is just a straight up lie.

The numbers are there to show you that only a possible 2.2% could even remotely be affected by that. And that on the off chance that the 2.2% is 100% from the 7 countries listed in the EO.

His email appears to contributing to the false narrative that this is some kind of immigration ban, which students are more likely to protest than what is actually happening in reality.

The majority of LSU's student base almost certainly voted for Trump.

Where are we saying any of this? And if they did, fine its their right as American Citizens. I think its retarded, but its their right.

what the hell are you talking about? he didnt even say there were any affected people at LSU, only "potentially affected students and employees"

is the part I am explaining. it really isnt that complicated that a university would want to be seen as accepting of all nationalities just like they want to be seen as supporting of LGBT students and black students during all the black lives matter stuff
