That’s twice the number of applicants they would get 5-10 years ago. 56,000 is insane. So even w some doing no score, the average scores of the kids they take has gotten higher because of dramatically increased competition and a more talented overall pool. So yeah. It has gone up
Respectfully, you're missing the big picture here. The Common App makes it ridiculously easy to apply to various colleges all at one time (up to 20). Virtually every kid from Louisiana is going to check the LSU box even if they have no intention of going there. This includes kids who are high achieving looking for scholarships but also low-achieving who now have a shot with holistic admissions.
LSU is not necessarily more desirable, as The Common App allows you to send way more applications in than students would normally send in if they had to do them one at a time.

Nailed it.

As far as ACT scores going up, is there a way of finding out what percentage of applicants reported taking the test and submitting scores? Because that would only be meaningful if an applicant applied to only test-optional schools, right?

Guess how many times you can RE-TAKE the ACT now...Just guess.
12 TIMES....TWELVE.
In my day you got one shot at the ACT and the SAT and nobody had a tutor..the current system is a joke.

Tate was solid and not remotely the DEI apostle that I and many other feared he would be.
Little Man Landry fricked up chasing him off

Yes, if they cannot compete academically.
The issue is "holistic" admissions.
AKA, lowered standards for minorities.
White liberals are the true racists. Blacks don't need standards lowered, they just need equal opportunity. Meaning if they have expected ACT scores and GPA, they should get in and they can get in today. It's extremely insulting to me as a Black person that White liberals feel like Blacks are incapable of performing to the levels of their White peers without intervention from White saviors
I academically outperformed most of my White peers ... I didn't need any extra White savior handouts ... I worked hard and did what needed to be done.

Tulane is the academic flagship of the state.
LSU outranks Tulane in academic research so LSU hold that title. Tulane, however does attract better academically qualified students.

They are just in the business of watering down degrees now. All part of the Progressive plan to make everyone equally miserable.

What is "holistic" admissions?

The response was that freshmen aren't required to turn in ACT scores anymore so it skews higher.
What?

The holistic requirements and push for black students was from F king Alexander. For fricks sake the internet exists. How people are attributing this to Tate is wild
quote:
Alexander said that due to holistic admissions, LSU increased African-American enrollment by 63% and Hispanic enrollment by 92% from 2015-2020.
Blacks have definitely moved out of the catch-all minority bucket.

Is it too much to ask of people to not behave like feral animals?

He was president while I was at lsu. Not that the US News rankings mean a lot, but I’m pretty sure we went from the middle of the pack in the sec, and generally trending up, to near the bottom by the time I graduated

Some get discounts or maybe even free tests making multiple tests more affordable.
And at many schools including LSU since 2023 they get the superscore which is the highest section scores from all those tests to calculate the total “composite” score used for admission and scholarship decisions. LSU and probably others did not even change the name from the long standing composite score, and they still call it the composite score in reporting and comparisons to prior years while explaining the superscore change in the fine print.
Tate and his crew pushing highest ACT scores ever with that change on top of standard testing being voluntary shows that they knew no white liberal would challenge their “facts”. They also knew LSU alumni are too focused on sports to look into the fine print as well.

Correct. Tate was smart enough to know where he was working. The problem with Landry is he wants to turn LSU into USL.

Bet you keep all this to yourself. Say and try to convince other blacks this and you will be called an Uncle Tom.

But yall get on here and say HBCUs are not needed, then the next breathe its LSU has too many minorities.
I think the OP is too warm to the idea of "holistic requirements" that are not academics related.
