There are other costs and considerations that are taken into account other than transportation.
Agreed, but that was the point the XOM BR manager decided to make, and was challenged by several posters.
With changing times, BR may just be too far inland, and the MS river may be too difficult. I don't know.

A final investment decision about whether to move forward is expected in 2021 and is partially dependent upon tax breaks being approved.
LOL. Broome fixing to squash that.

King JBE and wicked witch Broome will finish running XOM from Baton Rouge. At a time refinerys are cut back and shutting down they feel now is time to play politics.

Actually there was another press release by JBE where he and SWB actually support it. Can’t stand either one but at least they’re not stupid enough to let XOM BR dissolve on their watch. (I’m sure someone else was in their ears on this)

The 2019 announcement of the company’s decision to progress the Baton Rouge polypropylene project, combined with this potential investment, demonstrates that ExxonMobil has confidence in the future of Louisiana and in our outstanding workforce. Louisiana looks forward to working with ExxonMobil to make this investment happen.”

“ExxonMobil is an economic driver in East Baton Rouge, supporting thousands of residents with quality jobs, strategically partnering with local companies for procurement needs, and injecting millions of dollars into public services,” said East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome. “I am encouraged by the news that Baton Rouge is being considered for this project, and call on my fellow elected leaders to support it in becoming a reality.”

well, for the state and local leadership to even consider letting ExxonMobil do this, they better start with correcting their pronunciation of Battin Rudge.

This shouldn’t be but a drop in the bucket for them after the blood bath of experienced engineers they laid off at the BR facilities in the last month.
Combine that with the people they are moving from HQ to replace them and the future cuts and it’s a damn shame. That said, all of the competitors and contractors have some really good people to pick from for any openings they have.
Merry Christmas
