Extending the Right Hand of Fellowship

I remember when this used to mean something. A firm grip, direct unflinching eye contact through the hold. An unflinchingly sincere smile and nod.
Nowadays from the young and hip crowd you might get a cursory nod, with the same enthusiasm given when responding to a dentist asking if you are aware of the 50‰ copay on your root canal.
Eye contact is a foreign concept with these people, you say hello and it's like they lost their keys under the desk.
In the unlikely event you do get a reciprocal hand extended in your direction its likely to be with a Limp wrist and zero muscular flexion in the hands or forearms. What's the point?

People used to refer to people getting kicked out of church as the left foot of fellowship.

I'll judge you forever if you have a shitty handshake or a fake hug. I don't care how petty it is.

And at the same time some women are starting to bring the heat with their grip. The worst is going for the customary male to female 3 fingers dead fish shake and have some bull dyke crank down on you. From now on I’m bringing the thunder to all short haired and husky chicks.

You can sometimes tell whether a person is sincere or not by the way they hug.. And by their handshake as well. But it comes out more if they are a "fake hugger".

I don't think of it as "bringing the heat" to give a firm but friendly handshake while making eye contact (the way my father taught me), but I can tell it surprises some men. I hope they find it refreshing and don't make rude suppositions like that about me or my sexuality.

If you’re a female I would prefer you didn’t shake overly firm. It’s offputting. Apply some pressure but don’t squeeze. And a slight curtsy after would be splendid.
