Seem to be widely desired and loved, I just don't get it.

Just feels like an added stressor.

I'd rather people be obsessed and skinny than fat.

I have the watch and I like it. I use it to track my sleep more than anything. Once you set it up you can get some interesting stats from it.

For me it's more of a motivator and community thing. Really fun if you have a lot of friends that use it regularly and keep up with you too. I'm very competitive so it really pushes me to get the goals done.

My job provides one and gives me credits for achieving certain Vitality Status. NNext year I will get a $100 savings on my healthcare costs per month. So basically I am getting paid $100 a month to wear mine.

We as humans like to count and keep track of things.

Steps walked, airline miles, Starbucks points, X-Box achievements.

How does it track weight training?

I think I'm getting one for my birthday

I see a lot of fatties with a Fitbit. So I'm not sure that it is very effective.

Agree, dumb fad.

Okay, paying good money to have your steps counted is really smart. I apologize.

Mine has made me more aware of my activity. I have done more excercise due to it.

Easy to see. You wear it, you become a Crossfit champion, it's like, automatic or something.

They've become a hundred thousandaire status symbol in a lot of cases. I've seen a lot of kids wearing them recently.

I also was a doubter. A friend talked me into it. I guess it's a mental thing in that it makes me get 10,000 steps a day. If I am short on steps at the end of the day, it makes me go out and walk around the block or more. It also keeps track of my activity during the day, counts flights of stairs, and tracks my quality of sleep. For me, it makes me accountable and that helps me.

If it tracked how many beers I drank, I'd be in. Don't want my average going down.

How many different versions of these things are out there? What to look for when shopping for one?

I got them for the whole family for Christmas. I'll set up the group and hopefully will encourage all of us to be more active.

You can see the other group members progress. And send private or group messages. If someone didn't do much one day, I'm gonna ask if they have a broke leg or something.

You can join multiple groups. I think work is going to set up a group too and I'll join that I've as well.

In the end. If you have a positive group, I think you'll benefit from not wanting to be shown up.

I like mine. I just got it.. It's not something you can't survive without, but it's really handy when going running or hiking because it tells you how far you've gone.

I do notice sometimes people walking at inopportune times. I saw a woman at a coffee shop the other day and she was just awkwardly moving around while in line. I said, "I bet she has a Fitbit".. Yep, there it was, right on her wrist
