So it’s more of a catholic thing to send kids to private school? Compared to Baptist or other Protestant

Well. For starters, education at the parochial level has been part of the Roman Catholic Church long before the reformation.

You can thank John Parker for that shite. His ruling took effect in the mid to late 80s and 10-15 years later all of the public schools were shite.

There’s many generations of catholic school grads out here.

My son, when he starts will be the 4th generation in my family.

Most non-religious private schools Began with desegregation. (False River Academy, Starky)

Older non-religious, non-desegregation began so the rich society didn't have to have their offspring go to class with the poor class of society (Silliman)

Catholic and other religious-based are entirely what they seem: schools focused on education and indoctrination. (Except maybe Parkview. That could be desegregation with a religious front)

Nowadays, they are another option to public schools or legacy based.(i.e. my kids go to this school because I went there and so did everybody else in my family. See Catholic High. It's the oddest Alumni/high school love affair I've ever seen.)

Finally someone said it. I figured race has something to do with it. Like I said, I understand why they exist in Baton Rouge, Nola and even Shreveport. But why do towns like Lafayette have multiple private school systems? The town is mostly white middle class I don’t see a need for private education. Isn’t LHS one of the best public schools in LA?

I'm not catholic. Kids go to catholic school and they are catholic. I have BTR family that goes to parkview and nobody is baptist. Kids spent pre k in Methodist. Actually married and husband grew up episcopal, but don't want to pay THAT tuition.

Those didn’t make it where I grew up. They started in the early 1970s and lasted about 10 years. The school I went to originally started in 1913 and is still in business. It is catholic btw.

If we’re talking about the Catholic Schools, no. They’ve been integrated LONG before any court said so.

Watch a conversation between 2 ppl that meet each other for the first time that are from NOLA or BR.

95% of the time they will ask the question “What school you went to?” during.

And they don’t mean school as in “college”, they mean HS.

So people living in small towns that have normal schools and few ghetto kids have to send them to private school? I’m not talking about living in a crappy school district I’m just wondering why people in nice places still do it..

I have asked this before. Seems like something regional. The answer I got was based on a law. Something to the effect communities can't raise specific taxes for schools because all schools have to be equal. Segregation issue. So private schools flourish.

ETA

It is weird.
