Is this legit or does it just automatically say your info is on the dark web in an attempt to sell you some ineffective crap you don't need?

I'm highly skeptical this isn't a bullshite scam.

It's always a good idea to give out every bit of personal information when you're skeptical of something

Just entered a fake e-mail for the scan, and they tell you to check your email for the results. I love the phony scan animation on the screen, as though they're scanning the entire deep web in 10 seconds. But they want as many valid e-mail addresses as they can harvest, that's all.

The Equifax breach literally exposed everyone's information. 173 million people. There's only 130 million homeowners in the US.

They've got to figure out a better system because this one is FUBAR.

I've tried to make people understand that. Equifax and the news make it sound like it's only half the population. The US has 300mil people, but a solid 100mil are children and won't have a credit report yet. Take away the folks that don't use credit, and yep it's pretty much everyone.

If everyone’s identity is stolen, is anyone’s identity really stolen?

Do not sign up by anything offered by Experian. In the case of say a class action lawsuit, you will have agreed to opting out.

You will not get but a $1.75 after the lawyers are paid and its divided amongst 100 million claimants.

dark web

I didn't see anything on tor the other day. I can only assume it's on an onion site that isn't public access though. I keep waiting for someone to throw out a link of reddit so I can go steal it all and hold it ransom over here.

IMO the only way they can find that your information is for sale on the dark web is for them to buy your information. It's going to say...

Credit card for sale, $1000+
Not
Kevin Turners MasterCard ending in 5678 with $967.44 is for sale.
