Why isn’t there the same stigma towards the Spanish Flu?

Because it began here, in the US of A, and Spain was a neutral WWII country that was decimated by this flu brought over by US GIs.

Got no problems calling it the Chinese virus. That is unless it proves to be wrong. Such as the Spanish Flu likely originating elsewhere and Spain only being the first to widely report on it in their population due to their neutrality in WWI.

There kind of is now. Check out the wiki page on it. They’re trying to rename it

If reporting back then had been as easy as it is today, we'd have known for sure.

So yeah, Id have no issue changing the name to the Jiangxi jinx.

You're absolutely correct. Your post read of ignorance, and not sarcasm. Were this not the case, my apologies. Were it so, well, you're enlightened.

They were a neutral country due to a devastating civil war that was the precursor to WWII in many respects.

Good God.

China needs to leave the wild animals in the jungle and this won't happen.

I mean it’s well documented that both the Us/English/French and German sides we’re dealing with the disease before the Spanish were. But they didn’t publish it due to military reasoning. The Spanish did due to their neutrality and took in ownership

AlsoIm barely sober enough to write coherent sentences, so take anything with a grain of salt.

I don't twitter, so if someone could copy & paste Jeremy Lins tweets ripping the Chinese govt for their initial denials and handling if this virus, then I might change my mind about him being a bigot

They'll be right back at it, in given time, and this will happen again...and again.

“Jeremy” Lin someone should ask him
If this is even his real name. Most likely he is like Bob from card member services who calls you to lower your interest rate but he does so with a strong Indian accent. When his real name is something else.
He just culturally appropriated a American white boy name for marketing purposes.

Yeah I know, and the Spanish media was the only one letting journalists report freely on it.

It doesn’t change the fact that it doesn’t get nearly the backlash. All I’m saying is it isn’t inherently racist to call something by its name, Chinese food, French fries, Louisiana crawfish. You aren’t saying anything about the people, merely it’s geographic origin. (Also sorry for only food, I am hungry)
