The 80s made every decade before and after irrelevant.

You mean the tech bubble burst, 9/11 and the housing crisis fueled by Clinton's repeal of Glass-Steagall?

I believe it's 100% accurate that the Clinton administration sowed the seeds for the housing collapse.

saying this with all objectivity, because I’m the furthest thing you’ll find from a democrat, but Clinton did a decent job as president

Basically every pathology you could think of.

The mid-80s to the mid-90s was basically the worst time for all the bullshite.

Violent crime/murder, abortion rate, teen pregnancy rate, etc.

The worst part about the 90’s was the grunge movement.

It was similar to the 70’s and hippie girls not bathing as much
Grunge has been elevated to a 'movement' now?

The grunge thing started as a moniker for MTV to throw a bunch of bands that shared little in common, but general geographic location, and a proclivity for utility clothing in a chilly damp climate, into an easily marketable box. It was a fashion trend, more than anything else, and a brief one at that, that, much like Kurt Cobain, was mostly unknown before 1992, and completely dead by 1995.

The girls I knew who were [briefly] into the trend didn't change their hygiene habits. They bathed, washed their clothes, and smelled nice. They just loved 'Black' by Pearl Jam, and wore flannel shirts, ripped jeans, and Doc Martin's for a year or so.

There was no "Grunge Movement".

The bad thing about the 90's was it wasn't the 80's. By far the best ten year stretch in history was the 80's.

When people bring up HBOs The wire and try to act like it’s not accurate….i always laugh, because that’s exactly how places like Baltimore, LA, Chicago, Nola, Detroit, parts of NYC/NJ, Philly etc

It was bad…in most kid size cities like Nola/bmore averaged a murder a day, kidnappings and rape we’re much much much higher than today…had all the housing projects where crime stats were absolutely insane and had gangs/OC everywhere

As much as we like to give the democrats shite for the crime bill and the use of the word super predators and the other things they said…they weren’t really wrong back then. Now…fricking physcos but that’s for another thread
