I forgot how bad 2011 was for Alabama concerning tornadoes.

217 tornadoes
2113 injuries
245 fatalities
$4,362,373,700 in property damage

What is fascinating now is the shifts of tornadic activity moving more easterly. Due to climate change, tornadic activity has evolved slightly more towards the Northeast in general with Illinois having the most confirmed tornadoes so far this year.

ETA: climate change deniers don't like the post.

Cool link.

My grandfather started a business in the mid 50's. He expanded in the 60's which required a new warehouse in the Elmwood area. A tornado knocked out the new warehouse (I believe before it was finished being built), but my family couldn't remember the year. That website solved the mystery for us (1964). It was an F2.

There's another smaller one in the same area that happened in 2017. I remember video of that one. It knocked a train off of the Huey P Long bridge near Bloomfield (close to where Houston's, Canes, and the like are located).

Cool site found the EF1 that crossed my place and damaged a house and barn. May 20th 2019

Sucked ...house was totaled after finally having renters that were paying on time.

30 x 50 barn destroyed. Saw the cattle heading for the barn before it hit. Looked down at the barn after it passed. Cattle were still standing where the barn was but no barn. No injuries the Lord watched over them that evening.

On the same day (May 21, 2024) the EF5 tornado hit Greenfield, Iowa there was another strong tornado that passed just east of Nevada, Iowa that was moving at an insane forward speed of 85 mph!! That has to be close to an all time record for how fast a tornado has traveled

Map is incorrect for Kentucky in 2021. That EF5 went directly through downtown Mayfield. If that maps line was correct, my house would’ve been gone and possibly my church would’ve had the roof ripped off.

There is one missing from the Corney Lake area. I thought it was classified as an EF4 but then after investigation it was said to be an EF5. It hit my hunting area just north of highway 9 next to the north section of Corney Lake. Tore a 2 mile by half mile section of forest down to the ground. Huge trees gone.
