Denny’s is further up Vets next to the Discount Zone on the other side the interstate. It’s still there.

Bra, there seems to be two or three of everything on Veterans Blvd, it’s very long… But i promise you that there was one specific Denny’s in that parking lot, for the life of me I can’t remember what it was before it was the Evergreen, probably a different motel- but that Denny’s in the parking lot did indeed exist in the late 1970s and the very early 1980s .

Did you have enough quarters to give to the antique strippers for the jukebox? I recall they sold miller ponies for $4. That was the only beer they had.

AJ's had a jukebox, too.

Ships Wheel and Downs Lounge had a mandatory rule that all strippers had to be over 60. Plenty Spanish Moss, and I ain't talking about the stuff that grows on oak trees. What about Ellie's across the street from Ships Wheel? Had a girl fart on me at Visions in the back room. Red bean Mondays I think.

Spent many nights at the Evergreen in high school. We used to rent a room to throw parties in since they would rent them to literally anyone. Many boys became men at that hotel in the 90s.
And yes, the free porn was a bonus.

I grew up in Metairie and it’s depressing to see what it has become.

They might if they’re not subject to whatever bullshite regulations Orleans hotels might go through… hence why St Bernard has gone from one rinky dink motel to three including a Holiday Inn and Best Western

The oilfield patch of traveling workers probably facilitated that hotel expansion.

The same thing happed in South Lafourche, we went from 2 rinky dink motels, to a Days Inn and a Best Western in the early 2000’s By 2010, they had a Holiday Inn, Fairfield Inn, and a Candlewood Suites.

Unfortunately, hurricanes blew away the Best Western and the Days Inn, leaving the last 3.

But the other factor is that, the oilfield is not like it was before 2010, all the expected growth in offshore drilling in the early 2000’s was stunted by the oil spill and has never recovered.

Also, don’t they have a movie studio down there? They could use that for the crews while the celebrities stay in luxury accommodations in the French Quarter.

I stayed at this place one time in high school. We had gone camping at fountainbleau on a Friday night. The ranger took all our beer and kicked us out at midnight. Rather than go home and get in trouble I booked a room here for a few hours.

Another Csb. My brother went into downs lounge when he was 12 years old.

I went to Downs Lounge one time, to see Morganna, The Kissing Bandit of baseball. She had some huge ta-tas.

Evergreen looks like the standard shady motel you see in every Hollywood movie

My band stayed there for a weekend in like 2000 after a run of shows in New Orleans. I still have nightmares about that shite.

24/7 porn between 8 guys in 2 rooms is not good.

Most of the crew working The Ranch are locals. Those that aren’t are also staying in higher end accommodations.

To be fair, most of those hotels along Vets were always trashy. Once trashed, it’s never fixed. Look at Shoneys and that hotel on a major thoroughfare. Sad.

I also grew up in Metairie and can’t wait to retire and get out. Was once ok. Too many people now and is becoming 3rd world status and the ghetto is creeping in.

Dude, I don’t know why you’re having such a hard time comprehending this .. You seem to think that Veterans Memorial Blvd only has ever had one location of any random restaurant.. i am here to tell you that , over the last 40 or 50 yrs, there have at various times been MULTIPLE locations of certain chains.. there is indeed a Denny’s currently in the location you mentioned, BUT just like Shoney’s and other chains, at one time Denny’s had more than one location on Vets.. including, but probably not limited to, in the front parking lot of what is currently the Evergreen Inn .
