Once while being operated upon, my eyes opened and i could see the lights and surgeons' heads. I could even hear that they were having a conversation but not well enough to understand what they were saying.

I couldn't move my head or the rest of my body and couldn't feel what was being operated on. I think the anesthesiologist realized i woke up and slapped the mask right back on. Any of y'all wake up when you weren't supposed to?

That would be my biggest fear and I bet the anesthesiologist was like oh sh*t.

Woke up when I was getting my wisdom teeth out. Scary shite. Thankfully lasted only under a minute. Could see and hear everything they were doing but couldn't move.

As a student observer at a teaching hospital I notified the surgeon the patient was waking up as the reason he was attempting to move while she was operating (was an extremity operation and pt. was trying to pull away from the restraint/surgery).

The student running anesthesia got booted out as he was turned away from the pt. reading a magazine instead of watching the monitors/pt.. That surgeon specifically asked for me to be in every case for as long as I was at that hospital too.

I was put under for wisdom teeth removal. I woke up. Heard them say "he's up" and I noticed the drills and shite being used in my mouth. That's all I remember. Didn't hurt. Didn't try to move.

I believe it's called anesthetic awareness... and I sure did ask the anesthesiologist about it. He chuckled and said the stories you hear about that are from people under "twilight" sedation. Told me I'd be deep under and wouldn't feel or remember anything and I wouldn't even have the feeling of time having passed (like when you take a nap go go to bed).

He was right; when I first awoke I thought something had gone wrong and they had immediately awoken me... over four hours had passed.

Last 2 surgeries. Didn't feel anything, and only remember waking up during the last one. I turned my head abruptly and stared at my mom's friend who was one of the nurses.. She said it freaked her the frick out lol

I remember waking up and a large mask and the sensation that the mask had to come off NOW. My right hand went to pull it off. I could smell something like it was bad and too much. I think they figured it out quick and knocked me back out. I was awake during eye surgery and was telling jokes I don't remember.

I had one of my kids dads walk up to me at a baseball game and tell me how funny I was in recovery after surgery. I had zero memory of this until he told me and then I recalled it.

I also remember them pulling the tube out and saying breathe out. As well as I was crying and I couldn't move my legs, which was all normal.

They needed to use drills and shite to take out your wisdom teeth? I was awake for mine (meds they gave didn't knock me out) and the dentist just pulled them out

I have a nagging suspicion that I was hitting on all of the nurses in recovery. Oh well.

I did have a batch of hot nurses last time I was in the hospital.

We can check out our surgeons before surgery and check their records/reviews. But we meet who knocks us out for five minutes and never remember them again.

yes i have (as i commented on in the other thread). i had kidney surgery to cut open my kidney to remove a stone that was the size of a baby's hand. I remember the excruciating pain and wanted to scream and tell them to stop but I was paralyzed, had a breathing tube in my throat and my eyes were taped shut.

Finally they notice my vitals going crazy, they freaked out and yelled to give me more and to put me back under.

They told my husband that they never had to give someone that much anesthesia before. Now I always meet up with the anesthesiologist before surgery and make them aware of what happened.

Sometimes, it still gives me nightmares.

I woke up during a foot surgery. I recall telling them something and the doctor and nurses seemed perturbed that I had awakened.
I don't recall being upset or anything. I suppose I was loopy and very incoherent.
I don't think it could be considered an out of body experience.

Same thing happened to me. I didn't feel any real pain, just a lot of downward pressure on my jaw. Lasted maybe a few seconds and I was back out.
