Woke up during a minor nasal surgery. Not intubated. Started to talking to the ENT. I remember him hollering "put him down, put him down". Never felt anything at the time. Later was a bitch. Another story
Anyway, it has been proven that red headed people require more pain meds and anesthesia.
Versed is a wonderful drug. Usually the first thing people say when they wake up is. "Okay, I'm ready to start."

Woke up in the middle of a colonoscopy. Didn't wake up fully, but I could understand the doctor as he yelled at me because I was trying to turn over in my sleep. I went back out immediately.

Same here. They didn't knock me out though, I was "awake" I guess during the procedure. I remember the guy using a damn hammer and chisel of some sort to break up the bottom teeth, then him pulling them out and setting the pieces on the tray. I couldn't move, and didn't feel a damn thing, and didn't really care.

ever woken up in the middle of a surgery?
1. A while back, I had an upper and lower GI procedure being done on me. I woke up when they were "rolling me over." I immediately said knock me out. And they did. I certainly didn't want to feel the bottom one.
2. I woke up as the doctor was finishing surgery on my left hand. As in about to stitch me up. I couldn't feel anything because of the local, but I managed to stay up.
3. Vasectomy. No, they don't put you under. However, I ended up getting 6 shots in my left testicle before I couldn't feel anything. And even then, it was an awful experience.

Yeah several times. Luckily none of the nurses have noticed that I fell asleep and I keep on operating.

Awoke during surgery to insert an artificial joint in my big toe as he was drilling a hole into the bone. Couldn't feel a thing. I started singing to the tune that was playing in the background. When Dr. noticed I was awake, he said as he was drilling, "you've got a really hard bone here" to which I replied, "why do you think my wife married me?". After they laughed, he asked the anesthesiologist to put me back under.

I had a finger accident with a wood planer and during the "cleaning up" period of surgery I was awake pretty much the entire time. I lost too much blood for them to safely knock me out so I got 2 benadryl instead.
I kept having little daydreams where I would be sitting at the table and someone would ask me to pass the salt or something. I would move my hand and wake up. The drilling, clipping, and shite...not fun.

I don't know what I have or even if it's a condition but anesthesia or pain killers don't do much for me at all.
I had knee surgery when I was 20 and I got the IV anesthesia that's supposed to knock me out but I counted back to 88 before asking the doc how far do I keep counting. They hit me again with another dose and then I was out before 98.
Same surgery, after 2 hits of the good stuff, I woke up while the doc was maipulating my knee and my leg was going back to and fro. I said "that's gonna hurt" and then someone said he's up and out I went.
I was in recovery forever; so long so that someone went out to my parents to tell them I was fine, but I was still out from the anesthesia. Once I came to, I fricking went bezerker and started ripping shite out of my arms and I was ready to go HAM on anyone near me.
Each time now since coming out of an anesthetic sleep I go absolutely apeshit like I'm about to kill someone.
Don't know what it is or if I'm just a pain in the arse in general.

And frick the vasectomy.
One nut was good to go, but the other wouldn't deaden enough. It felt like the Army Mule was kicking me in the nuts.
I went into a cold sweat from the pain.

The two times I awoke in the middle of surgery, the first as a child I started to shake my head and all I remember was the surgeon telling the anesthesiologist to put him down. The second as an adult having my wisdom teeth removed I sat up and I remember the surgeon watching the student surgeon do my surgery forearm slammed me back down and I was back out in seconds.

I know what you went through. After the 6th shot, the doctor asked if I wanted to continue. I said finish me up, because I am not coming back to do this again.

I'm not sure who that is or simply can't recall to reference, however my doctor was top rated at the former Earls K Long Hospital in Baton Rouge.

I think most of you are off on what happened, you did not wake up in the middle.
Based off the largest study of its kind
The 5th National Audit Project (NAP5) on accidental awareness during general anaesthesia: summary of main findings and risk factors
.005% of people wake up in the middle. A larger percent wake up in the maintenance phases, which is not actual surgery.
