My wife and I have what we call our “board retreat” every year at the beginning of the year. We go stay at a nice resort for a few days and we hammer out things like our budget for the year, our annual big trip, known work travel/school events/social events that need to be put on the calendar, etc.
I also spend a long weekend each year on a solo hiking trip to recharge my myself. Usually in the summertime since it’s my busy time of year and I carry more stress then. Wandering around a city by myself sounds like one of Dante’s circles of hell.

I’ve had the wife take a trip with the baby to my in-laws so I can have a few days at home.
Lying about what you are doing sounds like a horrible idea.

Ever take a YOU trip?by BabyTacTake a few PTO days and tell the wife you have a meeting/workshop to go to and just fly off to some random city on your own. Not to cheat or do anything scandalous. Just relax in the hotel, sleep until you wake up, hit the hotel gym and breakfast bar. Then sleep some more. Maybe go exploring or walk around. Basically find yourself again. Recharge… What you say OT? Ever take a YOU retreat?
I left on a Tuesday at 10 am and came back on a Friday a month ago. Had a monster Axis on my deer lease in the Hill Country that kept showing up on camera. Shot him the first morning and just stayed there by myself and hiked the property and shot hogs the rest of the time. I did let her know that I would be leaving the next morning around 8:00 that Monday night.

Maybe I just have a case of the Mondays.

Sounds like a good way for a divorce to happen. The average women, if they find out, would never believe it wasn't a rendezvous.

No. Cause I'm not a soy boy.

Why would you have to lie to your wife to go do this new agey sounding nonsense?
Because the majority of men, who were going to do this trip, don't have the type of wife to say "sure honey have a great time!"
If I were to do a solo trip, I would hear about it the rest of my life. So it would be easier on me to bend the truth.
However, this seems like it would take a lot of planning. So I'm not sure if it's even worth it.

I like my wife and I take her with me when I go places.

I used to occasionally go surf or pier fishing by myself but it's been quite some time now since I've done so.

The week after my wife passed I hooked up the travel trailer and spent Spring Break boondocking on the coast from Indianola to Crystal Beach. Bourbon, fire pit, a cool breeze, and solitude. It was glorious.

How can I “take a trip to the Peoria Hampton Inn for three days” when I’m a bus driver and a trash man.
There’s no trade shows for that my guy.
Subtle “I’m not a trash man” brag. You a-hole.
