Mine went very smooth. People just need to be fair with each other and not try and get back at them and things can go fine.
My ex and I split 3 years ago because she feel in love with an ex boyfriend on facebook. I tried to make my marriage work but realized she wasn't interested so I gave up. We split everything down the middle, used the same lawyer, and walked away. We get along fine because we have a daughter who is 14 and a son who is 19 that we still have to finish raising together. We both pay 50/50 for things the kids need without a lawyer drawing it up on paper.

Only ones where you don't have kids together. I love my kids, but I think about how sweet it would be to never have to have contact with my ex ever again.

Ive seen mutual divorces. Any reasonable thinking couple with kids will put the petty bullshite behind them and keep the kid's best interest above all.

The only successful divorces are the ones where the couple has no kids, both have steady jobs, and they just fell out of love and divorced before one or the other cheated.

Mine went fine. We both are still friends and have be co-parenting for the past 12 years and a both very involved with our sons life.

My aunt and uncle went through one when the kids were about 15. It was about as amicable as I could imagine. Each remarried to two people who are soooo much better for them, and each seem to be much happier. All of the kids are pretty well-grounded, and at their weddings each ex hungout with the other and their spouse and it was fine.
I'm sure there was some messy behind the scenes stuff that I didn't see, but overall they had as good a divorce as I could ever imagine.

I'm a product of a pretty ugly divorce...to the outsider, my life probably looks pretty great, but in reality, I've got some pretty hefty baggage.
It doesn't matter how "successful" the divorce is. Unless one of the spouses was very abusive, threatening, etc., then the kids will always be a victim. Always. Their innocence will be destroyed and they will always think its their fault (unless they are older), no matter what is said.
And don't give me this horseshite about unhappy family bullshite. The kids WILL suffer. Period.

How about personal responsibility? How about honoring your vows. How about not making individual personal happiness the be all end all of life? It's hard. It takes work and commitmwnt...sadly people don't care about that anymore
So let me get this straight. Two people who fall out of love have to stay together anyways and spend the rest of their lives working hard to force themselves to be happy? Makes sense.
People make mistakes in life... doesn't mean you have to live with it forever.

If so, I'd call that a success.

I didn't vote either way, sir.

With kids? No.
I grew up around a lot of divorced kids, and I've never seen a divorce that didn't wreck the kid for atleast a year. Usually it had long-term impact.
I sort of disagree here. Anecdotally, I think my childhood would have been more of a positive one if my parents divorced early on. Once my dad left, everyone seemed more at ease.

I meant as my parents child, sport.

I have never heard of a smooth divorce. Some start our civil, but eventually one, or both parents decide to cause conflict. If all parents really cared for their children and put their best interest first, divorce would not be so bad. Think of all the money both could save if they agreed outside of court. You can prepare a judgment yourself if both parties agree, and have a judge sign it. Done deal. Sadly this is not the case way too often.

A friend of mine got one about a year ago. Incredibly smooth considering a child was involved and he had been caught fooling around several times. They get along better divorced than they ever did married.

A couple I know are divorced amicably. I'm not real close friends with them, so I don't know all the circumstances. From social media context clues I infer the ex husband came out as gay, but I can't say that for certain.

What the hell is a successful divorce?

Yes, my current boss has recently completed one and continued to carry on a peaceful relationship with his Ex because it's what's best for their daughter which i highly respect!
