My mother in law said she saw Elvis when he was an unknown. He performed a little show in her high school gym.

I rode on a bus with Sting in London in 1977. My brother saw KISS when they were the opening act for Blue Oyster Cult at Independence Hall in Baton Rouge in the early '70's.

one of few legit responses on here.

i'm amazed at how many people were at that Bayou REM show. I didn't make it. Had planned to sneak in but it didn't materialize.

Not me, but my dad and uncle grew up in Mobile. They remember seeing Jimmy Buffett countless times between New Orleans, Mobile and the beaches. This was way before Margaritaville went big.

They also saw Bonnie Rait on South Alabama's campus.

On an extra note, Mobile used to get awesome concerts all the time. He saw all the time big name acts in the 70's.

That was probably the only show I missed at the Bayou in five years at LSU. I actually stayed home and studied for a test that night. On another note, I gave away tickets to see the RHCP at the Varsity Theatre in the early '90's. I won them from KLSU by answering a trivia question.

I saw Creed play in Fort Walton Beach before they got big. The drummer went to my high school, and Scott Stapp and I believe Mark Tremonti went to HS in Pensacola.

Saw Queen, as the opening act for Mott the Hoople at the St. Bernard Civic Center in 1974. Also, saw Bruce Springsteen in early 1975, before Born to Run was released, at the Theatre for the PErforming Arts (now called the Mahalia Jackson Theatre) in New Orleans.

Saw the Kings of Leon open for the Strokes in November 2003 at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. Went and bought the first album the next day. Sat next to a girl that only came to see the Kings of Leon. I though that was dumb before they started.

My mom had the Box Tops play at her prom.
