Oddly enough, scissor lift safety had been the topic of our site-wide safety meeting the previous morning. Some guys just don't pay attention during those boring-arse safety meetings, huh?

I saw a dumbass tip a forklift on its side and another one run the forks through a roll-up door.
Reminds me of an inspection at a warehouse where a column had 2 holes punched in from forks. I swear it had to have been intentional.

Heard that man. Didn’t write the details cause I was still at work. We had a guy in one today and when the overhead crane moved it tipped him causing him to fall 25’ or so. I was one of the first there and he is going to live but had to have him escorted by ambulance. Just a shite day that could have been prevented.

It amazes me how sometimes there's 6 mother frickers watching one guy dig a hole on the side of a road, yet when it comes to someone working in heavy machinery there's not a spotter when there needs to be. How does someone work in a cherry picker or scissor lift and not have a spotter on the ground?

A lady died at FedEx in Memphis died a few months ago when her forklift tumped over and threw her out and fell onto her .

I wasn’t there but I talked to everyone that was. We had a operator/manager that was trying to get this old supply boat on shore a little bit with a 3900 crawler crane. Well he straps up to the bull works on the back but they are just welded to the deck. Not built into the frame of the boat. This guy tries to pick up on this thing and it snaps this fricking thing off. The boom kicked back and everyone thought the crane was going over. The block wrapped around the boom. fricking wild.
On the same boat we had a guy fall into a hole. Fell 12 feet and was inches away from getting impaled on an open pipe that was 4 inches id.

Buddy lost his leg. Moved the lift when he was up. #1 thing not to do. I'm surprised the lifts don't automatically prevent this.
I operated one for a week at a plant in New Jersey. The outfit I was working for faked a certification for me because we were in a jam and didn’t expect our crew to need a scissor lift. Anyway, I never flipped it though and had to extend the hell out of it for the job. I also had to hold a firehose and almost yanked myself out of the basket when it hit snag. That was a hard earned $15/hour.

Witnessed this today for the first time and man what a scary experience for all involved
Buddy of mine here in Local 332 in San Jose was a first year apprentice 20 or so years ago when a scissor lift he was 10 ft up in the air in tipped over. There was a floor box hidden by a skim of concrete and he rolled right over it.
Broke his back and crushed his heel. His ankle is fused, but that's not an issue. The constant back problems he has had are. He was bedridden for about 3 months late last year because of back problems.

Moved how? They're made to move when extended up. That's the whole point.

28? Wtf. No way I’d go up more than 10 ft if it was blowing more than about 15mph. 28mph is frickin whipping to be 20+Ft up in lift.

Knew a guy that got crushed at Exxon back in late 80's

This is the kinda shite I laugh at but then if I needed to do it to finish some dumbass project I was piddling with I would be up in the man lift cage standing on drywall stilts thinking nothing about it. Stupid only kills other people or so says my apparent redneck genes.

Been doing construction since 06, and have spent hours in extended, moving lifts. If that's the actual rules now, that's stupid. But that goes for lots of the dumb shite they require now.

You do you. I don’t care if you get paralyzed or die. I mean, I hope you don’t. But it won’t bother me if you do.
