My wife got one from her dad when he passed. He owned several thousand acres of farmland, condos, hunting land. I can’t go into details but she got a hefty amount that was used to pay off all our debt (house, cars, credit card) and 7 figures put into investments

Inherited oil and gas royalties from my mother. Every year of the pat 20 years I receive a check between $7.00 to $9.00, It has never eclipsed the $10.00 barrier. LOL
This reminds me of my dividend check from McDonald’s that my uncle got when I was a kid. It always goes to unclaimed state property website

My dad says that he is going to will me all of his firearms when he passes but I think that is going to be a massive headache since he has full-auto weapons.
Just gotta pay the 200 dollar tax stamp for each weapon and go through the transfer process. As long as you have a clear background it won’t be too bad.
The negative side is owning a NFA registered firearm gives the ATF the right to search your home at any time to make sure you’re in possession of the weapons

There's a lesson for me there. Don't put shite off until you forget about it.

Will inherit from my father in law. Approximately $500k. Yea this is in the future. But he likes to corner me once a year and make me go over a spreadsheet.

My inlaws inherited enough to build a pool.
My folks inherited a few pieces of antique furniture.
I haven't inherited anything.

My grandfather didn’t have much but he left a silver dollar to each of his grandchildren in his will. Best gift I’ve ever gotten.

If I remember correctly he had a chance to sign up for what was called a multiple of 2 or 5 (don't remember which), which would have paid out 200k up to half a million
Dont feel bad, if it was military SGLI or VGLI or anything like it the rates arent competitive unless youre otherwise difficult to insure. Term insurance is cheaper to get on your own. He probably made a sound financial decision.
It's quite common for beneficiaries updates to be forgotten. Its now frequently briefed to military members yet some still fail to remove exes or switch from parents/siblings to spouse. Thus, we now have to review/update our paperwork frequently.

100,000.00 paid off house. 150,000.00 was spent over 20 years, a couple of cars, kids education, and some family trips. It was helpful.

My grandmother left us grandkids a few busted up, broken down rent houses in my hometown in southern Oklahoma.
I get $600 a month for mine. My dad does 75% of the upkeep to keep his old retired arse busy. I’ve been lucky. I’ve had a real good renter for over 10 years. Dude does a lot of his own repairs, keeps it in good shape. Lives alone, works out of town all week, pays rent in green cash.

There was inheritance I was supposed to receive, but though unethical means a family member was able to gain access to it before that person passed away because they thought Stanford Financial Group was going to make them a lot of money.
Im still bitter towards them today. Its not so much about the money as it is the way they gained access to it and thought that some jackass "with strong conservative values" was able to give them a higher percentage on their return than companies who have been doing it for a very long time (AKA they got greedy).

My mom left me her 401k. I’m still figuring out what to do with it.
I’m also her beneficiary for the life insurance. I guess I’ll figure that out too once they pay it out.

Nothing on my side of the family. My wife's side, her parents own four houses and another three acres of vacant land. They'll probably outlive me.
