Even Mild COVID Might Change Your Brain

TLDR - Covid makes some people more stupid.

People who are experiencing anxiety and depression months after a mild case of COVID-19 may have changes affecting the structure and function of their brains, Brazilian researchers report.
“There is still much to learn about long COVID, which includes a wide range of health problems, including anxiety and depression, months after infection,” said Dr. Clarissa Yasuda of the University of Campinas in São Paulo.
“Our findings are concerning, as even people with a mild case of COVID-19 are showing changes in their brains months later. More studies are needed to hopefully identify treatments to prevent any long-term effects on people’s quality of life,” she added.

To understand this, the researchers studied 254 people who had a mild COVID-19 infection. On average, the patients were 41 years old and had COVID-19 three months earlier.
Each participant completed tests of anxiety or depression symptoms and had brain scans.
In all, 102 people had symptoms of both anxiety and depression and 152 people had none, the investigators found.

The researchers then looked for evidence of shrinkage in the brain's gray matter. Scans were compared with those of 148 people who had not had COVID-19.
Those who had COVID-19 and were experiencing anxiety and depression had shrinkage in the limbic area of the brain, which is involved in memory and emotional processing. Those who had no symptoms of anxiety and depression after COVID-19 had no brain shrinkage, the study authors said.
TLDR - Covid makes some people more stupid.

I agree. Just wake me up if anyone is ever held accountable for that shite show.

Would seem kind of pointless as a comparison unless they had the ability to compare the exact same person before and after.

Big Pharma is gonna milk this thing dryer than an almond after it's milked.

Exactly my thought as well.
I'm not saying this is junk science, but it's certainly bordering it.

Probably more likely to be caused by lockdowns/hysteria than the actually virus

Jokes on them, I was already an anxiety fueled depressive before I caught it.

So you had to be stupid to begin with. Makes sense from a psychological point of view.

I got covid in March of 2020 and can say that I certainly experienced some depression and anxiety after. The question is, was it the covid that caused it or the fact that I worked from home for 6 months and heard constant hysteria on every news channel/forum/website. I think the societal issues were likely more damaging than the virus itself

I'd also like to know vaccines, amounts of boosters, etc etc. Full disclosure I didn't finish reading it bc it seemed like a bunch of bullshite.
It's hard to let go of a cash cow and that's exactly what covid has become to a lot of these companies.

Especially for the children. I think they got fricked over the worst in all of this. Maybe not directly from the virus, but from the political shitshow the virus became.

I've never had covid so I can't use that as my excuse. I'm just an idiot.

Without trying to find the study, I wonder how they teased out or incorporated media/medical fearmongering on the anxiety front or lockdown effects on socialization for the memory and emotions front.

Pffft already had anxiety and anxiety still better than myocarditis from the shot.

This "study" is missing a lot of controls unless they are just not explaining the study well.
How many had those symptoms before they caught COVID? How many of the unmentioned control group showed symptoms of anxiety and depression? It hasn't exactly been a wonderful 3 years for people regardless if they actually got COVID.
