The Weinersnitzel on Highland Road by the North Gates. What a dump.

Fun story about the Weinersnitzel by campus. A buddy of mines dad says he ran into the stop sign exiting the parking lot in 1983 and it still hasn't been fixed to this day. I know its likely many of others have hit it but he swears its never been fixed from his original hit

great food, but suburban whites usually look uneasy there.

Its def in the hood, but doesn't that place basically print money?

The hood. Please. Every time I go there, they have sheriff's deputies directing traffic in the parking lot. That's about the safest place in Baton Rouge

Pastime. Awful ordering system, mediocre service, geriatric atmosphere, and shitty food, especially their pizza

Bite your tongue. The pizza is pretty good, although the crust is kind of fricked up.
They do a good job with fried seafood and po-boys.

Don't ask for a side of gravy though.

The Chinese/Mongolian restaurant on corner of Florida and N. Donmor. I use to call in Mongolian BBQ, but have no clue the real name. Place been there forever!

They use to have that commercial with the chinese dude dressed up like a cowboy saying "These folks sure talk strange around here" with a thick Asian accent.

Weinersnitzel was the only food I had during hell week. Was given like 3.75 on an empty stomach and ate like a king...a poor destitute king with the shits a couple hours later.

You risked taking a trip into the ghetto for some shitty food? My condolences

Yeah, Tony's isn't hurting at all

Not at all. They make the vast majority of their money off the Louisiana Products (fish fry, seasoning, etc). They stay at that location because Tony was very loyal to the neighborhood and St. Gerard.

And their seafood plate lunches are easily some of the best in the BTR area IMO.

a dick owner

The only establishment I've said I would never in my life give a second chance. Pizza and owner was so deplorable, I never even got a chance to taste it. While he was saying I'm banned me from the restaurant, I was saying I'll never walk in again and will tell everyone I know about how much a shithole the place is. Even Restaurant Impossible did a show there and within a month, the parking lot was empty again. And that wasn't due to illnesses in his family.

I'm surprised PoBoy express stays open. I personally love the place but every time I go there I'm usually the only one unless with a friend.

I used to go to the one on Florida/Sharp and the Ceadercrest location when I lived in BR. Both of those locations always seemed busier than the one on Perkins for some reason.

Not great po-boys, but decent and cheap.

Yeah, Tony's isn't hurting at all. Every time my mom comes in town she stops there for some boudin balls and boiled crabs/shrimp. When I worked up on Evangeline we would go there for plate lunches a few times a month, and it was always busy, with blacks and whites.

They do a good job of hiring security and keeping it feeling safe.

Can't let the neighborhood fool you. Tony's has a very good business....and I recommend it to anyone.

I'm sure your experience was poor, and it is well known that the owner is rude, but the pizza is very good. One of the only places in BR using legit ingredients.

I am partial to Dolce Vita when we had it here, but Mama Della is VERY good and light years above the grease pits we have planted all around BR.

I don't know that they'll be around much longer due to owner's attitude, ambiance of the place, and honestly.. crappy location. But to knock the pizza, especially when you said you didn't have a chance to even taste the pizza, is crap.

Greasy shite pizza has its place. I can tear it up. But nothing beats a legit crust with fresh buffalo mozz and fresh basil leaves and homemade San Marzano marinara sauce.
