I suggest the Essence Festival move to Atlanta and take the Decadence Festival with them.
If needed, would you be OK sprinkling in the Bayou Classic is an extra kicker to Atlanta too?

Definitely. I met a guy who was GM at the Queens and Crescents Hotel, he said that he had to double the housekeeping staff the day after the BC. The Popeye's boxes full of chicken bones were everywhere, in some rooms the bathtubs were full of them.

As a Krewe member I have a real problem with the city using my money to subsidize Essence.
I’m not here to defend Essence… but the city absolutely subsidizes the krewes through free services

Essence, until recently, was a good event for the city and most of the out of town people who came were classier and spent a lot more money than the Bayou Classic crowd.
It was sold to a Liberian four or five years ago which is why the thing has fallen apart.
