Look at the bottom of all posts idiot.
No wonder you think it's cool for a future officer to act like that.
She should have her arse kicked out.

I'm a little late to this thread and I'm usually the last person to defend a female cadet. BUT everyone in this thread is making a huge mountain over a mole hill.
This is not a parade this is a walk in formation to her graduation ceremony. If you look at the picture they were in route step which is a marching command used when marching over rough terrain or cross country style marching. Essentially it is s controlled gaggle. Several others in the picture are looking around, not dressed right, and out of step. Like at civilian school graduations the give a shite factor towards the rules are at an all time low. Especially the march from the barracks to Michie Stadium.
What so important? Who is she texting? Why can't it wait? More than likely it is a family member trying to figure out where to go. I'm sure all of the ranger wanna be's in this thread would ignore their grannie as she's lost and blowing up your cell phone while walking to your graduation.
I'm pretty sure once they marched on the field at Michie Stadium the phone was put away, her uniform was squared away, and she marched in step.
When she gets to OBC in one to two months the only people who will say a word to her will be her classmates and it will be in jest.
When she gets to her first unit in seven months not one frick will be given.

It's graduation, a celebration. If anyone deserves to stand down and cut up it is that group. Tomorrow their real service begins. She survived plebe year and met physical, mental and academic standards of our top military institution. Congratulate her.

I remember spending time at West Point as a combat medic to support their summer training exercises, the cadets are terribly coddled.
I had a new cadet with his battle buddy come to me because he didn't know how to get sweat out of his eyes. What made this worse was that the cadets had to radio each incident they had to their "headquarters toc"
I don't know how I kept my composure that day.

Of course not one frick will be given, she's probably AG.
I understand it's not a very formal March I know West Point is hilly and roads are steep, but let's just hope she doesn't continue this trend and allows this to be the standard for her platoon, s shop, or in the future her company.

Yeah I don't know, I just have a hard time getting worked up over stuff like this. Maybe Bc I'm not military, or maybe Bc I'm confident our military can defend the country whether or not a cadet uses a cell phone at her graduation.

Well there are lots of military guys posting in this thread and we all think it is a big deal so maybe you could just take our word for it.

I know if I were to do that i'd have a CSM come out of the woodworks and I'd get my arse chewed out for it and who knows what else.
But a cadet, it's no big deal. It's a double standard and its bullshite, regardless of rank you don't do that

I'm sure she will be fine. She just went through four years of brain washing of holding standards and not settling for mediocrity.

That is just raggedy.

I wonder if Mark Browne ever served..
If not, he can STFU.

I don't know which was sadder. Seeing the actual video, or the fact that the video didn't surprise me.

Just watched the video. Pretty embarrasing!
It's official "The Corps has . . . "

I bet you military dudes haven't melted this hard over a chick on a cell phone since your wives/GF's called to tell you they were cheating while you were off on duty
Posted on 5/25/16 at 5:22 am to gamatt53
The cell phone didn't piss me off as much as the mismatching shoes and socks did. Though I will say had this been an enlisted formation and not a graduating corps of cadets, they wouldn't have been going home early that day.
