As someone who went and graduated from EHS, I’m not sure I agree with this statement at all. But I don’t know if you’ve been there or have kids so I’m not sure where you are coming from.
If and when I have kids (which likely won’t be for many years), hopefully I’m out of Louisiana because there’s no way I’m putting them in the current public school system here but I also don’t see the point in spending 20k a year.

Seems like it would be worth it.
Everyone is protected from liability as long as they are following CDC & LDH guidance. To answer your question, no they could not do that.

I think the school is doing the right thing for the long term.
My kids don't go to episcopal, but I still spent $10k on tuition for each of them. I'm just happy my kids are attending school in person. They are young and virtual sucks more for the younger students. But I'd rather them virtual learn for 14 days so they can go back to school. The worst-case would be for the school to allow the outbreak to get worse and have to shut down altogether which would seem likely once teachers and staff start getting sick.

Just on data. Good luck finding a traditional public school with an average ACT of 26-27, 99.9% graduation rate, and millions of dollars in scholarships.
There are charters and magnets that beat this but they aren't traditional public schools.

Did anyone think schools would open and there wouldn't be any type of quarantine that was going to happen?
It seems like the schools are stuck between a rock and a hard place. No matter what decision that was made there was going to be push back.
And I think they did the right thing, it was the best thing for the kids, but it wasn't going to be a smooth ride. So the parents who are bitching, they had other options and they should have know there was at least a chance there would be some bumps in the road. So there is no reason to bitch.

Seems like the problem with this was that there were a lot of social events that the kids attended in the last couple weeks that increased exposure possibilities.
Rich people are going to go do rich people things. It is hard to stop and police if you are a school trying to stay open.

yeah, we chose in person school too. We were the 2nd car in carpool line yesterday for the first day.

My kid struggled with the remote learning some. She's normally an A-B student. She needs to be around other kids her age. It's not healthy for a 13 year old to be in the house that much.

Read the damn article people. They didn’t shift to full virtual forever. They were quarantining individual students in high school but the number got high enough where it made more sense to quarantine the high school students for 14 days before bring them back on campus

Is it ten thousand dollars better than Catholic or St. Joe's? No. But it offers things that those schools don't.
