I have a power line that is going through a tree and it's become a problem. I cut back the limbs when I can but it's currently too high and too close together for me to cut. Line in question has dead limbs hanging over it that are much further than my saw with the extender can cut and also limbs touch the line running to my house.
Called Entergy and they were supposed to send a guy today (so I've been off all day) and just got off the phone with them again. Apparently the guy came by on Tuesday and assessed that it wasn't their issue and was my issue. So not only am I pissed that I took the day off due to them telling me a schedule but also that I never had a chance to speak to the man about my options.

Are my only options to pay for a private company to deal with this or call back and get someone more competent?

I think it would at least provide a spark.

Just change electricity providers. That will show them!

Unfortunately where I live they are the only provider which might explain why they have horrible customer service

Is it the service line going from the pole to your house? Because if it is, that dude is correct. It's your issue.

I think your best option at this point is to just wait for the line to get taken out then Entergy will be forced to fix it.

It’s weird you posted this now because I just got an automated phone call from Entergy telling me they will be trimming trees over the next few weeks and my power might be interrupted. I don’t believe them. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that is happening in the middle of a heat wave. I think they’re just planning on rationing power during this period and that explanation will make people less mad than just “we’re turning your power off because our grid sucks”.

Both, pole to pole outside my fence and from the pole to my house. I have limbs touching the line and some are dead it appears in the tree.

It sounds like the wire is on you side of the utility vs property owner maintenance divider.

if that is the case it is up to the owner to protect the line.....will need to hire a professional tree service that is licensed and bonded....

Or just pick up a few undocumented Mexicans from Home Depot parking lot and let them get the job done

Had a similar situation and my arborist told me anything in between or over the power lines pole to pole has to be cut back by Entergy. Once Entergy cuts that back, then he would be able to come out and cut the rest away that is over the line that serviced my house. He told me once I signed the contract with him, he would coordinate with Entergy for me.

Before I could sign the contract, we wanted another quote because of the price (was understandable high but wanted to check). Then Ida came around and placed my tree, and several others on the block, on the power lines so Entergy had to come out and remove the entire thing for my anyway.

The service wire that comes to your house from the pole is yours to maintain. Someone earlier said to let the tree fall on it and Entergy will come...that's only if it doesn't rip down your weatherhead or meterbase. If that happens, you'll have to hire an electrician to fix before they will run your service again and that will also require permitting in most parishes.

My advice. Hire a professional tree trim crew with experience trimming for service wire. Unless you want the whole tree down. Then you'll have to get the service wire taken down and put back once the tree is out.

If you are responsible, then it is a service wire from the transformer to the meter. I work for an electric Co-op and we routinely trim the tree in this situation to help our Member, but it is not our obligation. You should never cut trees around power lines, even if this is an insulated secondary service wire. A couple of years ago, we had a Member trimming trees near the primary line with a pole saw while on an aluminum ladder. Once the saw cut through the limb, the saw touched the primary wire and the Member was electrocuted and lost his life. Also, tress have been known to conduct electricity and people have been electrocuted even though they did not come close to the conductor.

You should call a tree trimming contractor f Entergy won't assist you. Also, you might want to read the tariffs and see where their ownership ends. If it ends at the meter and your meter is on the house then they are responsible for maintaing vegetation up to the meter.

You tried it the civil way. Go full Karen on them. Start posting about your experience on every social media platform. Make sure to tag them in it. Post two or three times a day. It'll be trimmed by Monday. Serious answer.

I’m fairly sure you answered your own question here.

Entergy isn’t gonna help you on this one

Are you certain it's a powerline? I had a line that was low, called CLECO who I have. A guy came out and told me it was a telephone line. He grabbed so I'm pretty certain he was right.
