My wife gave me a RESCO Patriot at our wedding. There is zero chance of me ever wearing a wedding band, in fact I borrowed one from a friend for the ceremony and pictures.

If he is a man he isn't going to remember a damn thing you get him. He will do good to remember to put that ring on every morning.

My future ex-wife already knows I expect a $9,000 watch for our wedding

If my wife got me a watch that cost the same as her wedding ring, I'd damn near be able to show off a Patek in these watch threads. Yet I still get told something if I want a 3k watch. Women have this thing where they are really excited that you spent thousands on an engagement ring for like one week. After that, it's COMPLETELY forgotten.

We have been married 7 years this week. I've never had an engagement ring, 'push' present or any of that.

Yes, there are women out there like that.

ts definitely not to see who can get the most expensive gift, but if he went through all the trouble to pay for an expensive ring that I intend to have forever, shouldn't he have something that would serve the same purpose? Rather than a cheap band that he'll probably lose 4-30 times.

So he won't wear a wedding band but a.....wedding watch?

Who is paying for wedding? Honeymoon? If yall are paying for all that on your own...maybe he would rather you save your money(assuming you aren't just slapping the watch on a credit card and starting your marriage with extra debt) for yall's life together(ex: if yall are wanting to buy a house).

Seriously...talk to him about it and see his thoughts on it. That's what marriage is about anyways....good communication to work together towards common goals.

Oh no, there will be a wedding band. But it won't be anything of worth other than what us girls like to imagine would be emotional value.

He would rather something that would hold value years down the road and maybe could pass down to future generations, like a fancy watch.

The wedding band will literally be something from the Kohl's rack.

So you just said he wanted something that would hold value and he could pass on generation after generation.

Then you said an engagement boat would be ideal??

The reading comprehension skills of this website astounds me. People, read before you post! (end rant)

To OP:
I say yes, if you want to get him a nice watch get
one. I have an inexpensive ring that I've manged to not lose for 14+ years and that's all I "got" when we married. It's pennies compared to what my wifes ring cost and I'm good with that.

if your guy needs/wants a new watch and you don't have to finance it for 5 years, get him one.
