Don't mention "Terminator Texas Style: Skynet Touched my Thermostat". It proved nothing other than some idiots opted-in to a contract with the devil that they never thought would be exercised. Or so I was told

After this summer (bad) and the next two summers (even worse without Diablo Canyon' power), people will be begging for central control of their a/c's and car chargers, because a little juice and a/c is better than none at all. Soon afterwards "opting out" won't be an option.

All in my humble opinion. I could be wrong, and I hope I am.

It doesn’t need to be subsidized as much as they need to provide the land. I know investors who will line up for a nuke project, but no one can ever find land to do it in a place where you can reasonably interconnect.

Which state’s policy will you implement from a national level? If you went down that path right now, the country would be forced into CA’s system, which is clearly flawed.

Already going that direction.

Entergy is going net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

With the blackouts and power shortages, how would you keep a charge on your gov mandated electric car?

This assumes the government will allow you to drive, period.
I'm really paranoid about the control aspect of EV's being in the wrong hands (i.e., anyone's but mine).

Looked for an agnostic source on energy subsidies. If there is one it's way down the search list.

I did find a chart on this website, but it may be just a tad biased.

It's almost impossible to understand the amount of US subsidization because so much of it isn't reported. Example: Local judge owns a bunch of land. Wants to lease it out but the operator doesn't really have the money to develop it for a few years. NBD, a bunch of back room deals happen and all the sudden they aren't paying any taxes on 10,000 acres for a decade. That's just a small scale example from a little town in WTX.

ETA: and to be clear, this happens in all forms of energy.

according to a recent report by the California Energy Commission, the installation of 1.2 million new EV charging stations by 2030

1.2 million? Seems like they'd need way more than that. Idk how many they have now, but with a population of 40 million, say 10% of Californians are driving EVs by 2030 spurred on by tax breaks and a public push for them, they're still coming up way short .

Unless they're counting multiple hook ups at each "charging station". Kinda like how there are multiple pumps at a gas "station". Or maybe ones installed in private homes aren't counted in that estimate. That could make sense. Idk, just seems like that number isn't enough if you need a charging station for each vehicle.

Years of activist figs like Erin Brokovich et al have destroyed CA's ability to sustain itself.

This is the major concern. It appears that the Govt is looking to control everything from our money to our cars, homes, and food supply. The more “wired” it is, the easier to control.

You can't blame one individual. The state of California has voted itself into a box over decades and they are either going to continue doubling down and suffer the consequences or pull themselves out of it through conscious choices.

Speaking of, blackouts couldn't happen at a more opportune time with the recall imminent. What happens next is up to you, California.
