Since you are young and single, you should tell your boss you'll go where you can be the biggest asset to the company.

Denver itself isn't much but it's close to lots of cool stuff
DC isn't really a fit for me
I'd pick Austin

quote:well, if he lives in Louisiana his property taxes are pretty low taxes are sky high in Austin - amirite?
I'd move to the one without state income taxes.

Those are three incredible cities, with high costs of living to match. You really can't go wrong with any of them. I would choose Austin because it's driving distance from home, but some don't care about that.

All good options with both upside and major flaws (at least from my vantage point).
DC is a great town to be a young professional. Lots to do, plenty of southerners but also plenty of folks from all over, hot women, good bar and restaurant scene. The obvious downside, and it's big, is the COL. Although isn't Austin rent/RE really expensive now too?
Austin is a good city with lots to do. It has a sort of fabricated outdoors scene in the sense that they make the best of it but you're often left wondering what the fuss is about. Certainly the best "state" of the three. Politically nuts, but in a solid conservative state with good governance if you want to hang there longterm.
Denver has by far the most access to outdoor activities (though DC's proximity to good stuff is overlooked), is in a fun city and has tons to do. Ultimately, I don't like the trending of Colorado governance and wouldn't move there planning to stay. But, you're young, so no reason you can't give it a go for a while.

All three of those would be great honestly. You'll have a great experience in any of them.
Personally I would go with DC just because I know more people there.

Washington DC - arse to man ratio high, but highest cost of living among the 3.
I would pick Austin as a single professional male.

I'd go Austin or DC just based on knowing people in both cities
Denver is awesome but I would have to pick up skiing. I love Colorado summers though
