It’s also illegal to drive in the rain without headlights on, but idiots do that all the time.

If you mean Hazard lights, then yes. Not to be used while the vehicle is moving.
But there's a lot of dumbasses who didn't pay attention in driver's ed I guess. See it all the time.

this is my second pet peeve when driving. My first?

Texas allows it. I never understood what the big deal is. If it is raining where you can barely see that's the only way you are seeing a car in front of you. When I see it on the road during storms I slow down some. If I don't catch the lights it obviously means they aren't stopped.

The advocate wrote an article not that long ago about it. The fb comments were full of people saying they’d do it anyway. People are dumb.

It can be an optical illusion in heavy rain. People see blinking lights and think the car is stalled or broke down. Morons also use flashers when the weather is perfect if they have brake lights or other lights out as if it exempts them from any and all illegal equipment violations.

I think it is a Lousyana thing.

Glad you mentioned this. It's been a couple of weeks since we've had this thread.

If you feel unsafe driving your vehicle, then you need to trust your gut and not drive your vehicle. Either don't leave the location you are at until the weather subsides, or if the weather starts while driving, pull over to the shoulder of the road and then and only then turn on your hazard lights. Sit there and wait it out if you feel that unsafe.

So what should you do when the rain starts pouring down? Wysocky advises motorists turn on their headlights and windshield wipers and pay close attention to their surroundings.

How else will they let all the other drivers know that it's raining?

here we go again

thats because tOT is entirely full of upstanding law abiding citizens who would never, ever, break any vehicular laws...except for that one DUI leaving Tigerland that one time.
