Ram them.

It’s very much a big deal. Last night on the way home from work the idiot in the lane next had his hazards on. He then switched lanes and got in front of me but had he used his blinker I would have slowed down to give enough room to merge. Because I that I gave him brights in his back windshield. It’s just common courtesy.

When the hazards are on in the rain, in the dark, you can't clearly see brake lights and you have made your turn signals useless. Seeing if someone is slowing down and if they are turning is important, flashing lights to show you don't have two brains cells to rub together is not.
You do understand your car has lights other than the hazard lights, right?

Did you expect more from Louisiana? People that barely graduated HS, if at all, apparently know more

I'll be candid, I've never done this. I've also never been in a scenario where I was confused by flashers during a downpour, and I have been in a scenario (or multiple) where people running their hazards during blinding rain helped me see them.
The OT is pretty much ground zero for outrage about this issue. In fact, I'd argue that being outraged about flashers during blinding rain and being totally cool with leaving firearms in vehicles are the two outlier positions that define this website.

Wouldn’t bother so much but 95% of these people are in the left lane going 30. If you have a death wish, this is a great way to get it. If you can go the minimum please take the back roads. There won’t be any difference in time at that speed.

that's the only way you are seeing a car in front of you.

If it's raining and you can barely see, get the frick off the road.

It is legal in Alabama.
It's like the people who drive 15 miles below the speed limit on the interstate. They obviously don't feel safe traveling at that speed, so perhaps they should stay of the interstate altogether.

And there's usually a SR that runs fairly parallel to the interstate where they can still drive 55 MPH without being a danger to everyone else.

If you feel unsafe driving your vehicle, then you need to trust your gut and not drive your vehicle. Either don't leave the location you are at until the weather subsides, or if the weather starts while driving, pull over to the shoulder of the road and then and only then turn on your hazard lights. Sit there and wait it out if you feel that unsafe.
Hey buddy, we don't log on to the O-T to read your good common sense, sound logic, and reasoning.

I don’t understand why this triggers people so much. Sometimes it helps me see a car I otherwise would have a hard time seeing. God damn y’all get worked up over nothing around here.

Never see it in Arkansas. Have seen it traveling in Alabama and Florida. If it’s raining that hard, pull over and wait it out.

Huh? You do realize when your headlights are on, your rear lights illuminate as well, right? Have you never been behind someone at night? They have lights in the back.. not just when braking.

There a bunch of dudes with big arse trucks that finally get the chance to plow through heavy rain. They are pissed that everybody don't have jacked up 4x4s and slow them down. That is all there is to this whole topic..
F them. I've been caught on the Interstate in blinding rain several times. No exits around. I slowed down and put on my flashers so I don't have some dude running up the back of me. I could care less about a ticket (although it's legal here in GA). I'm not taking any chances..

It's legal here in GA and I'm glad it is. Those lights tell you to take caution. Could be a perfectly clear evening and I'm humming along the highway, see a car I'm coming up on with hazards on, slow down, and realize once I catch up they're going 25mph below the speed limit. Inciting caution is good on the roadways.
In the rain, I don't want some a-hole running up on me, misjudging distance in a blinding downpour, and slamming into my backend. Hazards help mitigate that from happening.

It’s a problem in Louisiana bc they pretty much teach in drivers Ed that you turn those on when you are stopped bc of a problem or pulled over to the side of the road. So in Louisiana when you see this, you think stopped vehicle, or vehicle on the side of the road.
