not sure why you are laughing. every parish has rules in place that a permit must be pulled and the home must be inspected by parish inspectors and green tagged to move to the next phase. they routinely check on new construction to ensure this to be the case.

Its comical that you think all these homes are being inspected. The inspector may look at one, but they arent looking at all of them.

Yes, and that inspector often looks at the finished product and not throughout the project.

The home builders have deeper pockets with lobbyist who influence the politicians and law makers. The New Home Warranty Act is such proof. It's total garbage and protects the builder more so then the home owner. Spec house or custom home, you're screwed if there are any problems or challenges after 12 months.

They’re trying to get out of an arbitration agreement? frick that. Sue your lawyer if you weren't advised; don’t sue DR Horton in court. Go to arbitration.

Wasn't this the suit that involved a bunch of homes in Youngsville constructed back around 2014/2015? I'd be curious to know if any of those homes flooded in 2016 as many in Youngsville did. DR Horton has a shitty reputation but not being able to handle humidity seems like a bit of a reach.

Personally I have a friend in Youngsville that had multiple windows that we're not flashed correctly and were continung to leak after multiple repairs

The leaking windows directly lead to mold and mildew problems. This would still have been an issue in a dryer climate but not quite as bad

Wouldn't an inadequate Central Heating/Cooling System cause humidity issues?

I would assume so. Believe me, I was none too pleased about that issue

Tonnage, seer, zones, units. Placement of unit(s), warranty, and maintenance are essential. It is on the homeowner to do his homework and have an evaluation of the climate system, especially in Louisiana. An air conditioner is a big dehumidifier, proper maintenance is essential to having them run efficiently.

Don't know about humidity, but bought and sold a DR house within 2 years. A very crappy build with ill-fitting windows (condensation) and sloppy plumbing.

When they refer to "Louisiana humidity", they're referring to 3 feet of water in the house.

No sir, that is not correct. It is not required by banks for traditional financing.

some of yall must despise texas because they have way more of these types of neighborhoods, albeit built nicer by better companies but are similar.

In Louisiana this is all the growth. In Texas there are still really nice areas growing. It is the ratio of lower income homes versus higher that is not a good trend for Louisiana.

There are 100%, without any doubt, DR Horton homes built in the Lake Charles area that have studs every 20 inches or greater. The codes allow it and they build to whatever the codes allow.

To be honest I would buy an older home over any of the shite that has been built the last 20 years. I was looking to buy a home in 2011 and I was looking at new construction homes. These damn homes were supposed to be new and the wall joints were already separating where the tape was laid. Then on some the brick beam above the garbage door was separating from the post seam. I know the home, especially being new, is supposed to settle but damn these issues were not minor touch problems. These houses today are cheap Chinese junk build by illegal Mohicans.
