Moreno's original plan is for just Convention Center to Superdome which would also be included

quote:

In a March social media post, the company named New Orleans as one of three winners of the challenge, taking many state and city officials by surprise.

Boring Company officials met with Convention Center leaders shortly after the announcement where they discussed connecting the Convention Center with the River District, Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson and Louis Armstrong International Airport in Kenner, said Russ Allen, the Convention Center's board chair.

I keep hearing that New Orleans is sinking and going to be underwater. Why would you build a tunnel there

Cost of the project will double after corrupt NOLA politicians get their hands in it

I thought Elon was South African, not German.

That was my 1st thought. Of course, I’m far from a civil engineer. But even if it works for a while—decades even—there would seem to be a hard cap on how long it would be viable, and the maintenance would have to require more resources than other cities.

Now, if I thought of that in 30 seconds, I’m pretty sure Elon Musk has put a lot more—and infinitely more valuable—thought into this. If he thinks it will work, I’m sure it will, and I hope New Orleans gets it. I don’t live in SLA anymore, but I still live in Louisiana and visit New Orleans a few times a year. Would create jobs and be beneficial to both New Orleans’ and the entire state’s economy.

My understanding is that the topography is the main reason they chose NOLA. Boring wants to get the experience working with the wet soil.

I’m 48, and I think it’s supposed to have been underwater at least a few times by now in my lifetime.

For Elon, it may be the challenges New Orleans would present that would be most enticing. If he thinks he’s figured it out, the answer to “Why would you build a tunnel there?” might simply be “Because I can.”

But his ambitions sometime extend beyond his reach. This could easily turn into a clusterfrick of disastrous proportions.

A tunnel can be above ground. Just needs to be enclosed

Its literally why they chose it most likely

They are choosing places with different types of challenging topography now for a reason
