You can bet your arse that construction costs and food costs would go up almost immediately…..assuming we expand this conversation to all legal immigration.

I think the starting question is whether America should be for Americans, or whether we have some larger/broader/non-nationalist duty to unknown people elsewhere.
I’m 100% pro America. I want all the shite we use imagine, created, designed, built and mass produced in this country. Ending H1B and other forms of legal immigration will not get us there.

Trump isn't even in office yet.
That would be very concerning for your position, were you troubled with the ability to think.

Rog already has the fake smart guy routine down, you need to come up with something of your own.

This should surprise no one. American kids want to be influencers and rappers.

But that’s stupid. Comparing sponsored professional labor to unskilled work by illegal immigrants isn’t the same conversation

And with this I am out when it comes to Elon Musk.

I appreciate your sense of irony, even if it was totally unintended.

First, I don't accept that there would be a meaningful QOL drop for most if we halted immigration. Some adjustment maybe, but people adapt quickly and new ideas/people would fill voids. You'd also need to account for QOL improvements.
There is a part too that plays into the messaging and perception of the people. At some point, why go into the engineering fields if they will just be imported in. Then, shockingly, we have no engineers here and have to bring even more in. If we promote that if we want a problem fixed, we have to do it ourselves, it will usually get resolved in that manner.
That's not to say i'm against legal immigration or anything like that. Just, the more that people think we can just outsource something, the more and more dependent we will get on it. Same with any entitlement type policy mentality.

I literally just told you this role is already taken. Try something else.

I don’t disagree with you… but you’re asking billion dollar publicly traded companies to potentially act against their best interests… that’s not gonna happen.

This has been happening for 150 years

Well I think we know why Rog isn't posting in this thread anymore.

So have the Feds artificially tamper with the market further?

That’s exactly what the H1B program does

i love how the average pro immigration argument
I'm anti-immigration. I clearly stated that in my post that I support a complete end to immigration, and even have another thread with that topic on this page currently.
My point was that mass illegal immigration of millions of unskilled and unvetted border-crossers is a much more important issue. H1B visa holders represent a relatively small number of people. Sometimes you have to pick your battles.
