It's her show...she can do what she wants.

I agree, but I think it's disappointing considering she is a person of influence.

It's time to grow up. Gays make up almost 40% of the population.

What is accepting?

Is this accepting: Burrell condemns homosexuality as “perverted” and an “embarrassment.”

It's never been proven that people are born gay.

It's never been proven that it's a choice, has it? And more to that point, who cares which one it is, it makes no difference.

Maybe she was asked to be on her show and she agreed.

So it's perverted and an embarrassment, unless the marketing by being on a high rated show can make the past an extra few bucks? But nah, you have no issues with that.

You seem real unbiased in this one.

the idea that gays are exactly "the same" as us, except they like to be with the same sex. The idea that they should be celebrated and homosexuality should be promoted.

If I made a list of things I care about less than Ellen, it wouldn't be a long list.

You see, this is where I don't like how the conversation goes. It shouldn't be about a vague concept such as "acceptance" because then the word is no longer "acceptance" but also "approval of the behavior".

That shouldn't be forced upon people. If you think homosexuality is "perverted" and "an embarrassment", then so be it. No one, not the government, not society, should tell you how to feel in your heart.

It should really be "respecting the free will of another person". That's different from "acceptance".

Also, when I think of "homophobic", I think of irrational fear. I don't really see that in the snippets provided by the article.

Is this why they have to keep putting it in our faces. I'm sick of the gays being everywhere.

I see the way they look at me. In the mall, at Bed Bath and Beyond, at Hot Topic. I see them. I don't know why they follow me. It's so weird. Oh, and isn't it DISGUSTING how gay guys ALWAYS make their penises visible when at the urinals?! frickING GROSS!...

You can accept their choices without wanting to be barraged by their agenda.

I don't think people having opposing views would be an issue unless it's the main issue they are on the show to talk about.

I think the issue is that Burrell is on the show to promote herself.

Why would Ellen have her on the show just to sing a song and self-promote?

I actually think it's the opposite. I'd imagine Ellen would be more willing to have her on the show if there were to be a dialogue.

But why would Ellen help to promote this person who feels that way about her lifestyle?

I accept gay people, always have, just not going to run around celebrating their existence, or make everything about what someone's sexual orientation is.

They are equal and hopefully sexual orientation is irrelevant in public matters from now on. Highly doubtful though.

Well of course, anyone can think that, anyone can be racist, none of that is against the law.

I think we can take the 2 words she used and be confident(maybe wrong, but confident) that the pastor isn't exactly having gays over for Sunday dinner every chance she gets.

Meh. I certainly agree but again that goes back to everyone certainly gets to choose. But liking someone less or not liking them at all because their gay says a lot about a person, nothing good, but a lot.

Wait, they're not?

Pssstt...they wouldn't feel the need to celebrate and promote their lifestyle if people didn't think like what you said in the above quote, that they're "not like us"
