Correct. Because addressing a tool, and not why the person used the tool, is not how rational people approach situations like this. It's how people lead around by their emotions approach these situations.

18 year-old kid with mental issues shoot his grandmother off school grounds.
Gets into a chase with police (presumably responding to the murder of his grandmother) and crashes his truck near the school.
Enters the school where he shoots his mother (who was a teacher at the school) and barricades himself in a classroom where he shoots and kills another teacher and 19 students.
LEO enters the school and kills the shooter.

Damn, so he went into a single classroom and just started shooting? Mother fricker, those poor kids were sitting ducks.
Does anyone know how he got into the classroom? Did he shoot the door open or was it unlocked? My wife is a teacher and her school (and all of AP) has a rule that all doors, outside and classroom ones) are locked at all times.

Seems like the shooter had no dad. Mom was a deadbeat druggie who lost custody so he lived with his grandma. Shows you how important normal home life is for people

The destruction of the nuclear family is what the democrat party wants and it's key to the downfall of our society.

I don't think that's been reported yet, but I bet it was unlocked.

Congress has fought tooth and nail for years for us to live in a Godless society. Here we are, now they wanna fix it by taking our rights away. Too bad.
Hope you all enjoy this society.

I'm not really disagreeing with your assessment, but don't make this overtly political or partisan.

This!
The USA has had guns as part of its culture for 200+ years. Something changed over the last 30 years that has caused school shootings to become a problem in our society.
IMO its the breakdown of the nuclear family.
Multiple generations of latch key/survivor kids not receiving the care needed to raise a child right.

Well, if he was indeed a tranny from a broken home, it's hard to ignore the idea that him growing up in a non-nuclear family potentially led to his mental health issues. Only one party in this country is applauding that precise family situation and lifestyle choice.

We can't blame our political parties.
We can only blame ourselves.
We allowed our society to get too expensive for single income earning families.
We allowed our children to get hooked on drugs and then breed kids they could not care for.
We started telling our kids "its not your fault it's someone else's" every time they fricked up because we didn't want to do the hard part of parenting
We allowed them to play inside alone rather than forming actual bonds in society

It's gotten to this point. You have security entrances at airports, courthouses, governmental buildings...sadly, we've reached this point.
We've shipped off trillions of dollars to other countries for foreign aid; it's time to step it up and protect our own. There is no excuse.
Gun control isn't the answer, and I am admittedly not a "gun guy." Criminals, nut jobs, and fricking losers, like this ****** will find guns one way or another.
Mental health is a large, crippling part of this society that has not, and likely will not, be addressed. We don't even have "loony bin" facilities anymore.
In the meantime, we need to do what we can, with the resources we have, to secure our schools. Lock them down and have security. Use our tax dollars for some sort of good instead of wasting them.

I know, I know. Trust me, I am not disagreeing with you one bit. The guy was a fricking freak that I hope endures the most unimaginable pain in perpetuity. If there is a God, and I believe so, I hope he rectifies this somehow.

I’m with ya there. So many in circulation. They need a police presence in school. It’s just the unfortunate reality. Idk what the cause is, but a lot of these
shooters as of recently all trend toward the 16-25 male group. What’s the deal?
I don’t think it’s a bad idea to look into who your teachers kids and family are either… see something say something.

As I understand it, this guy was being chased by border patrol agents, crashed, then ran into the school and started shooting. He shot his grandmother before entering the school -- did she work at the school or something? Forgive my lack of knowledge here but could someone please let me know a synopsis? Have we learned yet if this guy was an illegal resident?
Grandma didn't work at the school.
He shot her and got in his vehicle. And was being chased. Not sure if it was border patrol or local cops. I do believe that when there is a situation like this many agencies drop what they're doing and respond. That is why there were border patrol agents there. Many took fire and were hit trying to get him. They were there most likely because they were closest to the situation. He was a US citizen and attended high school in the town. I do wonder if the elementary was his target or he was going to the high school but the car crash stopped him form getting to the high school and he went to the elementary. Initially I and other thought his mom might have worked at the school. But doesn't look like that is the case. We'd definitely know that by now if so.
