I have yet to see an article that takes into account the electricity production plant that those clean electric cars are running on....much less one that takes into account the production of those "clean" lithium ion batteries, or the cost to change/recycled them when they no longer hold a charge.

Well, there's lots of improvement that needs to be made with solar and wind. As well as cleaner burning coal energy production.

Not to mention there isn't enough resources to produce enough electricy to run these cars if everyone has to have one. It might help conserve a little in the grand scheme of it all but negligible effects.

But the blue graphic is pretty.

Isn't that what this article is doing?

Meh, give me the nuclear and hydopower stuff. Or some day it will become cost effective to power your car by solar panels at home. I think most realize that fossil fuels have a foreseeable end.

And leaps in solar power,

hand in hand with battery evolution, power regeneration(braking to charge, etc..) and all other green energy.

We will get there, it will be much less than 50 years. Battery tech even in the last 10-15 years has evolved exponentially.

When we can get the weight down, hold more amp hours of charge and have less resistance in the charge, we will see the change.

Plain and simple, electric motors will out do a gas/diesel in almost every way with the right tech. We will still always have the classics but it will be the way of the near future. your 50 years statement will probably see 90% plus E-vehicles

Are they factoring in the emissions from the plants that produce the electricity that these cars run on?

Did you even read any of this?

And how much of the electricity for those electric cars is coming from a carbon emitting power plant?

Less carbon from the plant than a small engine.

Electric cars leave the plant with higher emissions than fossil fuel vehicles, but they have lower emissions on the road.

That's literally what this study is. All you had to do was read the sentences that the OP so graciously bolded for you and you didn't even do that much.

Are you referring to their production? or the charging?

If the electricity is generated from natural gas or another clean fuel, then i would think it would be less polluting than oil

At best you would probably come out marginally ahead with carbon footprint, for an exorbitantly more expensive, less convenient vehicle. Leading to energy shortages and rolling blackouts, just so we can say that we're "green".

I think that's the crux of what is illustrated in the picture. Regions are distinguished by the carbon efficiency of their electrical grid.

I love muh gas vehicles but it shouldn't be difficult to believe that electricity produced at the massive scales of public utilities is more efficient than each person running a motor.

If not, why don't you have a badass generator to run your house's electrical needs?

They don't know you're charging your car on their dime. If they did, I d bet it wouldn't be free for long.

Im looking for the 1 ton dually models. But I cant find them. Am I doing the internet wrong?

Who makes that? Im thinking of trading my F450 and would love the better fuel economy. However it needs to tow 28k cause thats what my tractor, disk and trailer weigh.

Thanks in advance.

Most places around me have free charge stations, but like stated, at what point do they no longer become free. Hopefully the US doesnt go socialist and provide free charge for everyone, when it eventually comes to that day and time that most are e-cars
