I have yet to crack $100 on my electric bill this year.

That was me until this month, $200 this month.

Nope. Only for the fuel adjustment costs. Stay angry Mingo.

ETA: there is only one side of the political spectrum that blames Presidents for the actual weather.

Why are people shocked about their electric bill? You can look any day at where it is at and where it should be at the end of the month

It's because people see shite like this that my daughter sent me for her bill:

Estimated from the Entergy app on Monday 11th:

And then get a bill that doesn't remotely reflect the consumption indicated as being what had been used:

unless you think she managed to use 334kWh in one day?

Look more closely.

The cost projection is for June 10 to July 10, which is 30 (or maybe 31) days. Now look at the bill. It's for 33 days, June 8 to July 11.

So breaking it down, that 1783 estimate for 30 days is 59 kWh per day, times 33 days is 1961 kWh.

Looks right to me.

In Houston my bill is up about 20% but my consumption is up about 15%. We also added a Tesla recently so that's probably part of the increased use.

At the ranch I'm still getting 2-300 month back from the utility company for my NEM.

We are sending natural gas to Europe to help those stupid fricks.

The cost for my electricity and natural gas has doubled in less than a year.

Correct, I pointed that out to her too after I looked closer at it, but telling people to look at what they're using clearly isn't very "user friendly" when the app is misleading for the vast majority if you're simply looking at the current and estimated without delving into it.

Joe Biden is responsible for seriously impeding domestic oil and gas production, which is a big reason electricity costs are higher.

Bumping the AC up doesn't help as much as you might think, and the other three weeks were hotter than usual.

You can check your own meter if you want to make sure they're not screwing up. Also there are devices that you can install (or have installed by a qualified person) to monitor your home's power consumption in real time.

While everyone is looking at CERN and wondering what it is doing to this world this liberal administration is using HAARP ( yeah everyone has forgotten about that ) to control the weather to push their climate agenda.

Oh I get that. Its the total hours that make no sense. Last year same billing cycle we were home the entire 34 days. This billing cycle we were only home 25 of the 33 days and used 400 more kw hrs? Something aint addin up. We have same consumption habits.

I do levelized billing with Entergy. I really like it. Was trying to budget better and it was hard to do it with. $90 bill in December then $280 in July. This month is the first month I have seen a significant increase in my monthly bill. Averaged $160. Went to $180. I know that small of an increase per month will piss some people off here but I consider myself lucky. However, I expect it to keep increasing.

Not the only reason, but high natural gas price is a big factor in higher bills this year. Fuel costs get passed through to customer per regulations.
