Very interesting little storm. I will say if this had another 18-20 hours over water Upper Texas and Southwest Louisiana would have had a much stronger storm coming in

Gotta make sure they name them ahead of landfall to protect insurance companies.
I’m truly amazed that some of you manage to function on a daily basis.

Tropical Storm Edouard Discussion Number 5 NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL AL052026 1000 AM CDT Tue Sep 01 2026 Edouard is a small but strengthening tropical storm. The center has been trackable this morning using NWS radar data from Lake Charles, Louisiana (KLCH), and recent data show the inner-core structure of the system is becoming better organized. There has been a notable increase in deep convection near and to the south of the center, and a recent dropsonde released in that area reported mean boundary layer winds of 61 kt. Doppler velocities have also notably strengthened during the past couple of hours, and adjusting these data to estimate a surface wind support raising the initial intensity to 45 kt. The last center dropsonde from the Air Force Hurricane Hunters showed the central pressure has fallen to 1000 mb. Environmental and oceanic conditions are conducive for additional strengthening for as long as the center remains offshore. With very warm Gulf waters and weak vertical wind shear, the hurricane regional models continue to highlight the potential for continued strengthening through landfall. The 12-h forecast point for Edouard is well inland, but note that additional strengthening is expected that cannot be easily reflected in the official forecast. A Tropical Storm Warning and Hurricane Watch remain in effect for portions of the Upper Texas coast and southwestern Louisiana. Given the improved radar structure of Edouard and the expectation of additional strengthening, NHC will issue hourly Tropical Cyclone Updates (TCU) beginning at 1100 am CDT (16 UTC). Once inland, Edouard is likely to rapidly weaken and should dissipate on Wednesday.

meanwhile storm twitter is coping with their bad takes by saying it didn't intensify because it didn't have enough time over water

According to who at this point?
Weather channel has less than a half an inch possible and Accuweather has .81 inches possible
We're going to get more rain tomorrow and thursday after the storm passes than than the actual storm.

For us in southeast Texas, the primary concern is going to be
rainfall, especially where heavy rainbands setup and near where
the center of the storm tracks. The highest risk of heavy rainfall
is roughly along and to the east of I-45 today. But areas to the
west should monitor the situation closely as well. The Weather
Prediction Center has placed most of the region in a Level 2 of 4
risk of excessive rainfall capable of flash flooding. This
rainfall may end up being largely beneficial. But locally heavy
rainfall totals of 6-9"+ are possible, which is why much of the
eastern half of our region is under a Flood Watch through
Wednesday morning. The time frame of concern begins this morning
in our southeast coastal counties, and goes into the afternoon,
evening, and overnight for the inland areas of the watch.

Conroe ISD continues to monitor Tropical Storm Edouard and its potential impact on our area. Based on the latest information, we are making an adjustment to today’s afternoon transportation schedule to help ensure our buses can complete their routes safely and on time.
Today, Tuesday, September 1:
High school bus transportation is scheduled to begin 30 minutes ahead of the normal schedule. Elementary school bus transportation is scheduled to begin 15 minutes ahead of the normal schedule. Junior high and intermediate school buses will run on their normal schedule.
Car rider lines at high schools and elementary schools will also begin at the adjusted dismissal times.
These adjustments will help account for additional traffic and allow buses serving our junior high and intermediate campuses to remain on schedule.
At this time, Conroe ISD plans to have school as scheduled tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2. We will continue closely monitoring Tropical Storm Edouard and coordinating with local meteorologists and emergency management officials throughout the day.

I got the day off work and man I've gotten so much done today. It's actually been a nice breeze in LC while I work in my shop.
Gonna go fish the point here in a bit, see if it stirred the drum up.

I can’t think of one successful lawsuit against a school district for not allowing early or storm related dismissal
