Any other Riverbend (BR) residents on Board? Wife and I track homes for sale and prices in neighborhood. They dropped our assessed value by 25%. All local comps show no drop in value recently.

Exemption would be over 200k if adjusted for inflation.

EBRP Property Reassessment
Who else got a nasty surprise in the mail? According to the assessor, my house is now worth 20% more than it appraised for just last year. It's a BS money grab. We have just one week to file some sort of appeal, which I have no idea what to provide to them.
This board likes to shite Louisiana all the time in favor of Texas. WELCOME TO TEXAS, BOYS!.
Texas does re-appraisals EVERY year(every 2 years in big city) and CADS can automatically increase your assessment by 10% without you having the ability to protest it unless something structurally was damaged.
EBR doesn't reappraise every year. So 20% in one year if the last re-appraisal in 2016, it's more than fair.
You wanna be like Texas....

Update:
I fought, and won. There were a multitude of excuses from the other side of the counter. "New software", "you can't compare to your neighbors" etc. Ultimately they were reasonable and agreed to lower the assessed value to what I paid at this time last year.

I don’t think they know how real estate valuation works. Comps are the main factor.

Why are you taking money away from poor kids?

What they were trying to say was some elderly people have theirs frozen, etc. I told her "ma'am, I know my neighbors". A few on my street are frozen but my assessment was way higher than the ones that aren't.
You do have to go in person, they won't discuss much over the phone. Tomorrow was the original end date to appeal it....I'm not sure if they extended it or not from the storm closures last week.

got it too. Just refinanced our house. Doubt that’s the reason but curious if anyone else got it too or if it’s more generic than that
Funny you say that, we refinanced right before covid. I wonder if that triggered jt

My assessment was up 15%. I have a recent appraisal that shows a 5% increase. I brought that to them and they reduced the assessment to the appraised value.
