You seem invested in this for some reason.
Every person that pays property taxes in EBR Parish is invested in them. They get over 9.5 million a year that way.
Every taxpayer in the state of La. is invested in them as they also get state money, but it’s not very much compared to local taxes.
They take in about 12.1 million dollars a year according to their audit.

That guy sticking up for them seems “invested” in them. He probably knows people that have contracts with the COA.

EBRCoA is nothing more than the Cleo Fields, et.al. money laundering machine for the Democratic Party in Metro BatonRouge to use taxpayer funds to lie, cheat, steal, and stuff ballots for Democratic candidates. They hold ‘registration’ BBQ’s, bus people to the polling stations, hold rally’s st their ‘Bingo’ parlor, etc. It’s all legit because they are not a ‘Gov’t Entity.’
It’s total Bull$hit that they were able to get away with the milage increase. If you were to add the amount of money per elder served, it would likely come out to over $50K per. It’s unreal.

I’m not sticking up for them.
The point we were making is that it’s absurd for them to be basically government-funded to begin with, while also being eligible for a PPP loan just because they are technically a nonprofit rather than a government agency.
I have no idea what you’re getting at, but you missed the point entirely if you think the folks saying they aren’t a government agency are defending them.

EBR officials recently pushed through taxes to support this private agency. They did the same with the Bridge Center. They support these taxes and voters listen to them and the tax will pass.
Here’s what they don’t tell you. First, that once the tax is passed there is no real official oversight. The agency can do as they please. Second, funds that were coming out of the general fund that help to fund the agency or which were going to the same services are kept by the govt. to spend on other things. For instance money that once went to help the mentally ill was kept by the sheriff and money that once went to the COA was kept by Broome.

That’s the entire point. They want people to think they are a government-run program to legitimize the property tax funding they receive. The reality is it’s treated more like grant money than a government-run program.

If you read about the COA board, it’s created to be easily controlled by a handful who can come to the meeting and vote their guy(s) in. It reminded me of his unions pick their leaders.
