The OT’s favorite Council on Aging has conveniently decided to close because of Rona. Just in time for the Holidays. But they refuse to reveal how many people are sick or why they are closing. THIS IS WHY YOU DONT GIVE MILLIONS OF TAX DOLLARS TO A PRIVATE ORGANIZATION. They don’t answer to anyone. I wonder if they will give any tax dollars back as they cancel one of their most expensive weeks of the year?

quote:

The East Baton Rouge Parish Council on Aging is shutting down its administrative offices and associated facilities for 12 days due to an increase of confirmed coronavirus among the agency's employees. The temporary shutdown will begin at the close of business Tuesday and last until Nov. 30, when offices will reopen, officials said in a news release.

Officials didn't give any further details regarding when and how many employees had recently tested posted for the coronavirus. The shutdown is their effort to reduce the risk of transmission to the agency's clients and other staff, the news release states.

“We are not just employees — we are the living example to our parish as we serve our seniors," (WTF does that even mean?)the agency's CEO Tasha Clark Amar said in a prepared statement. "We will complete delivering meals to our homebound seniors to accommodate them for the duration of our closure."

[On Tuesday the agency also announced it's cancelling both its Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway scheduled for Nov. 19 and that it won't be delivering hot Thanksgiving dinner to its Meals on Wheels clients early next week.

They say they will continue to deliver meals and then in the next sentence say they won’t be delivering hot Thanksgiving meals. Sounds to me like they just want to deliver the cheap regular meals and avoid the cost of a fancy dinner.

We are paying them to not feed the elderly and provide meals during this period?

They could subcontract out the meals.

If they fail to feed the elderly then why do we need them?

As if the City Council gives a shite but maybe they could ask this question:

“You deal with a high risk population on a daily basis. You have had over nine months to plan for this. You had no back up operations plan other than to shut down?”

Don’t question Dytasha Clark-Amar. She’s black. Check your privilege.

Are these paid positions? If so, I wonder if they are going to still collect a check during this shut down.

Clark is salaried. She makes over $100K per year. Didn’t stop her from being foreclosed on her house. Or driving a Cadillac Escalade.

And here she is today responsible for millions of dollars of tax payers money for a non-profit when she can’t even manage her own personal finances. At most companies, she would have been fired already due to money mismanagement.

She is easy to hate but that is the beauty of a private business.

They don’t have to tell people a dang thing about salaries or what they are using money for.

Easy to hate her but if i was in her shoes, i wouldn’t tell anyone a dang thing either

I guarantee that new building is FULL of 70" screens and chrome lined desks.
BUT, people that have chosen to stay in EBR and pay into this crap deserve what they continue to vote in.

With the money they are saving couldn’t they hire caterers?
They should be ashamed of themselves.
