I remember during Katrina in New Orleans, they would stop you if you were out past curfew and question what you were doing. If you checked out they would tell you to get home right away

I you are in a flooded area, yes authorities should stop, question you and ask what are you doing.

In other areas no.

I think there is a lot of politics around this.

I think it is a good idea, most people would probably not go out anyway, but criminals and others probably would take advantage of the low activty at night.

I understand how people feel. But we, as citizens who live in areas where we can get around, have rights too. Just because you agree with a bad law doesn't make it a good law. Criminals who want to rob and steal won't just drive up and say 'here I am.'

It shouldn't be for all of EBR. My area didn't flood at all.

there needs to be an effective way to manage people during a crisis. Maybe it's not curfews. I know it sucks I know limits freedom, but during disasters, the most important thing is to return things to normal, not your ability to stay out past 10pm.

I am a law and order guy but this is bullshite.

You want a reasonable curfew? How about this:

Curfew enacted for all areas with standing water in the streets and any area without power.

FWIW, if we want to make the job easy for law enforcement we should probably just suspend the Constitution temporarily as well. That damn 4th Amendment getting in the way and all.

Kip was plenty pissed on WAFB just a few minutes ago. Think it's a little silly to do this now. I am sure the looters will be home by 9:45 pm!

A curfew allows police to question people out past a certain time. A lot of business are abandoned and closed. Instead of cops having to watch every at risk store, they can just question every person out past a certain time. If you were a store owner who's store was damaged by floods you would be for this.

Remember post-Katrina? Curfews make it easier to avoid further problems.

I wish I could go out and stay out till 1 am but thousands of people are in shelters have lost everything, I think I can live with having to be home by 10 pm. Just go out and buy some booze and have fun at home if you are a night owl.

A night in the EBRPP is the penalty.

Things have been normal for a few days.

Honestly I don't really care because I wasn't planning to go out tonight, but it's silly to have a curfew a few nights after things get back to normal.

I would be for this just add areas where people may have been evacuated. There area alot of empty homes right now.

BTW the whole criminals are criminals argument is stupid. A curfew puts all law abiding citizens at home past 10pm unless they have a legit reason. Between 10pm and 6am cops can question people who are out past then. Going from some place you won't get in trouble.

They caught an entire eight people stealing. If I was a guessing man, I would guess that is less than they normally catch on a Monday night during decent weather. Hell, crime may be DOWN with the flooding.

That was the ones they caught. Was more then that.

EBR parish is more than just baton rouge proper. Zachary and Baker were hit very hard during these storms, they are both in Baton Rouge. I haven't been there but I doubt things are back to normal in bakery and zachary. Sure Baton Rouge proper is but not there.

OK then make the curfew for affected areas only. It's not that hard to do

Couldn't the mayors in Zachary and Baker call their own curfew?
