Um, I never once made a statement regarding the 4th Amendment. Maybe you should respond to the right person.

The frick they aren't.
When did they have probable cause to do so?

Sid seems to be doing a lot of shady stuff lately

Acting shady around my unlocked vehicle is a good way to get yourself shot

What the frick are you even talking about?
A prank. Was it that hard to figure out?

They do things like this in the suburbs around Dallas. They don't actually search your car, just check to see if it would be an easy target for thieves. You can stop with all the 4th amendment complaining... if you have unlocked doors or valuables in plain sight, and someone tells you about it they are helping you, not violating your rights. Now if they actually searched through your car, that is a different story entirely.
I don't need any fricking cops helping me, unless I ask them to.

If you're not breaking the law, you don't have anything to hide! I'm all for these random inspections, frick anyone that thinks otherwise! This thread should be deleted.
ETA: Obviously, I forgot sarcasm font.
Doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. I think they are simply going to see if a door is unlocked but not rummage through our shite. And where will these inspections take place? LSU parking lots? Garages? Or neighborhoods?
I have more questions than just knee-jerk outrage.

I don't really have a problem with a uniformed officer checking my door locks and leaving a flyer on my car.
Posted on 3/18/14 at 11:47 am to mikelbr
once they open the door they will start looking around

It blows my mind that people don't see this.

Are you going to feel the same way if they start checking the doors on your house too?

Because cops obviously have never overstepped their bounds, nor is there an endemic problem with police forces adopting a militarized, "us versus them" attitude.

Admit it, you'd take Skillet's weed.

If you trust a guy like Cpl. Brian L Harrison that much, that's on you. I'll pass, thank you.

How about instead of this we set up a bait car like the TV show? Instead of having officers on-site to arrest the perps we could use this as sniper training and save everybody some money.

The only question I have, can they seriously justify the manpower it takes to go around pulling on peoples car door handles all day? In BR?
