I had no idea this renewal was on the ballot until I went to vote. It didn’t come up on my ballot on the GeauxVote app either.

It's laughable how easy tax stuff gets passed. If it's anything to do with property taxes, it passes with flying colors

Use other monies

Well total mills in EBR is about 120. Schools collects 43.45 mills

Schools mills were up for renewal in the March election. 14% of EBR voters showed up to vote, passed with flying colors.

We are pretty low and we have Homestead exemption. Problem is municipalities can add whatever they want and gig you, also it seems no limit to some of the highest in the nation local sales tax(we are #2), millages, and fees added to utilities and services.
4.45% state tax is ridiculous, but our boys in Baton Rouge gotta spend.
I say throw out the 75K Homestead Exemption and lower property taxes. This makes everyone have more skin in the game when they vote for millage increases.

When the people that vote for a living, outnumber the people that work for a living. This is the results. When BREC finally got one passed, they didn’t know what to do with it. Buying new trucks and cars, just spending money cause they had it.

No, they will just turn it over to Acadian and trust me, you don't want that. Livingston parish has Acadian and you're better off just driving yourself to the hospital versus waiting 20+ minutes for them to arrive.

Most normal people do this anyway.
I can get to the hospital in probably the same amount of time it takes to have whatever dumb conversation you have to have with 911 to get them to come to you.
EMS is for old people that have fallen and can't get up, but that's not how it's used in EBR-uh.

Until St. George becomes a city, i'm not voting for any tax renewal or new tax. They have enough of my money, figure it the frick out with what i already give you.

I don’t work for Acadian nor BR ems. I will say on average nationally, call volumes for most departments have gone up 20-30% in the past 5 years, while staffing has gone down the same amount. EMS system is abused and broken

I’m ok with EMS being able to be paid better and have better equipment.

I want quality stuff coming to me if I’m in need of medical assistance

b/c people are lazy and think it's free.
You should be charged for it, and if you can't pay, then you can do community service or go to jail. Same for ER visits that idiots make b/c they have the sniffles.

Maybe if there was some kind of campaign against it, you may have had a little more success in defeating it.

I’d like to know if they transport more people in general with serious medical conditions or more thugs getting shot or stabbed?

You are off by a decimal FYI. $31.3 per $100k

He also used $100k. In BR homes are assed at 10%. So if the assessment is $100,000 that means it’s a $1,000,000 home.

In EBR the property taxes aren’t Texas high but they aren’t low by any stretch to go along with the nations highest sales tax rate

Because the service is presented as free. They say “call us for anything”, then use the call volume for funding leverage. Another gov self-licking ice cream cone.

No they don’t

EMS agencies have been doing that for 30 years yet it has never helped. Vast majority in the country are behind the 8 ball

Nobody makes a profit with emergency transfers. Most private companies do emergencies and non-emergency, non-emergency is where the profit is at. Even private companies in one way or another are going to have to get tax money or incentives to do emergency transfers. People’s insurance isn’t enough and most don’t pay the bill. Public ems agencies or fire departments that run ambulances rely on tax funding but most don’t do non-emergency transfers. Non-emergency many times is simply taking people from nursing home to doctor visits, dialysis, etc. Most cities and towns don’t want their ems crews tied up going out of area or state that non-emergency transports require
