My daughters daycare is closed and my sons catholic school is out all week. They should be working like the rest of us IMO.

Obviously you don't get it.

slippy, you are gonna catch a lot of crap in this thread, but I agree with you. the real trouble with easter is that it is always on a sunday and if you happen to get a day off, it is typically on good Friday...you can't really enjoy the time with family because everyone is trying to get back home for work/school the next morning.
but this isn't a new thing
i'm almost 33 and it's been this way my entire life.

that is true...this has always been a kind of a spoiler for the Easter holiday for me...it has the same nature as the Thanksgiving holiday for me, but you generally are off the Friday after thanksgiving.

Maybe you should stop being a shitty parent and hang out with your kids more than just Easter weekend.

It is the state's problem your kids live hours away? Should I protest that I have work tomorrow and often have work on December 26th?

Nobody has Monday after Easter off dummy.
Wrong.
It was common practice until recently for LSU to schedule spring break the week after Easter, meaning students would get off for Good Friday as well as the subsequent week. Most elementary, secondary, and post-secondary institutions in the state still do this.
However, LSU had to frick everything up a few years ago and decide to schedule their break the week of Easter.

Most religious holidays are made secular because of the political correct world and the war on Christianity we are living in today. It's sad really.
The secularization of most holidays, particularly Christmas, is the direct result of mass marketing ploys on the part of the advertising industry and businesses.
Capitalism is more involved with the supposed war on Christianity than political correctness.

On Easter Sunday. My daughter had to drive to Baton Rouge, and my son to Tuscaloosa (5 hours)
At least you raised one decent child

Easter means a whole lot more than having a relaxing lunch with your kids.

the holiest day of the year for 80% of the population evidently doesn't warrant an accommodation by the state. My kids had to rush through lunch to they could drive back to college
They were off on Easter Sunday weren't they? Were they required to drive back home? No. Were they required to drive instead of fly? no. Wouldn't they have to drive back home if they were off an extra day? Whats the difference between driving back home tonight vs. tomorrow? Are you saying that your kids cant handle a 5 hour drive today and also going to school tomorrow? What a pussy.

having the Monday after Easter off is too much to ask.

Is this serious?

I hate the modern world.
You have a good point. Did you know that the whole United Kingdom has a holiday on Easter Monday? I'm listening to some internet radio from the UK and they are talking about people having to drive home in bad weather tomorrow from Easter holiday. Easter Monday is a holiday in the UK.
