It's the oldest untouched concentration of water discovered. Water is simply recycled, and given the planet is older than 2 billion years it would stand to reason there is water already being circulated that is older than that.

This is the kind of stuff I absoulutely despise. Just a bunch of scientists trying to get on the map. HOW IN THE HELL, do they really know that its 2B years old? Did they just happen to have a jar of 2B year old pond water in the office to compare to?
Do they even have a 2B year old air sample tucked away in a file drawer somewhere, to speculate with?
Nope. They just took other assumptions from scientists that also wanted to get on the map, and applied them to their attempt to get on the map. And nobody ever goes back and checks on their data. Hell, most times they wont even release a sample to be verified
When climate change models can even remotely tell me what the climate will be in 30 years, then I might believe they know how determine when something might be 2B years old. Nah, I still probably wont

Not to mention dinosaur fossils. Like they can tell how old that stuff is and what it looks like? Do they have million year old dinosaurs running around in the lab they can compare it to? And what about geology? Rocks are rocks, man.
