I am guessing, it I’d bet that discharge is a good thing at this point....let the infection flow on out. I would probably try a warm compress, if the pain is still bothering you.

It wasn't bad. I was under the knife.

I had a tympanoplasty. Skin taken from behind the ear and grafted over it.

The reason my eardrum did not heal was because of scar tissue forming. When the skin graft took, it allowed the scar tissue to form across the whole eardrum. Now I hear less out of that ear.

Smoke some cigarettes. It won't help but you will look cool blowing smoke out of your ear

Did you realize this would be a complication prior to the surgery?

I’ve had one since I was 3 years old due to the tubes in my right ear. The doctor didn’t do it properly and that ear drum never fully healed. Dealt with numerous ear infections at the beach and in the summer for years, had all sorts of ear plugs made to try to prevent it but I would get at least 1 per summer. Now I just don’t go underwater ever and have a 20-30% hearing deficiency in the ear. If I had it to do over again I would’ve gotten the surgery years ago. Get the surgery done while young bc it’s hard to find the time for it or the will the older you get.

The surgery is no big deal. You are in and out in several hours and it usually works just fine with zero complications or loss of hearing.

Sitting here waiting for mine to rupture. I’m about to hope on a flight and have a feeling the altitude is going to do some damage. Currently in no pain, but can feel some shite going on in my left ear.

Some bloody discharge the other day after jumping into the lake from about 25-30ft up. I’m assuming the pressure from the water going up my nose pushed some mucus back up or something.

Had plenty of ear infections and tubes put in this ear when I was younger.

There a reason you aren’t able to take Amoxacillin or amoxacillin-clavulanate?

Ahh ok then. Just asking because that’s not usually the go to for that and only tried when you have a pretty serious allergy to penicillins, like yourself.

Just lookin out for ya
