There is no excuse for getting behind the wheel of any motorized vehicle while drunk or impaired.

What about the excuse that when you're drunk your ability to make good decisions with sound judgement has been impaired?

The government sells licenses to businesses that allows them to sell alcohol for consumption on site to customers who drive there with the intent to consume alcohol. The government does this knowing the predictable outcome that the customers (who are now making decisions while impaired) will probably decide to drive away. The government's solution to this problem is to basically sell indulgences to those drivers when they get caught sinning.

It's still impaired driving, and is putting others at risk on the road or water

And its still safer than someone texting while driving.

If you're gonna take everyones license and vehicle that drives over a 0.07, do the same for everyone that texts and drives one time.

True, but 0.08 isn’t drunk. It’s revenue generating for the state.

Louisiana did not want it at 0.08. The federal government threatened to pull funding ($6 million per year on highway construction at the time) if they did not change it to match other states and the D.C.

Exactly. It also depends on the persons size and ability to absorb the drinks. I don’t drink anymore but I will admit there are times when I was very stupid and drove when I should not have. That’s why I will never do that again.

I spent a long time working in China and saw DUI checkpoints probably weekly. If you have any alcohol at all in your blood you get arrested and lose your license for a year or something. They do not play around with drunk driving. At the same time, I had more than a few drunk taxi drivers

It's a money grab. All of the "Public Safety" talk is just appeasing the mad mothers. If they were really concerned aboot the safety of all of the citizens, they would run 53.55% in black communities, 34.22%n in white communities, and 0.17% in Native American or Alaska Native communities, to fit the population's demographics.

Let's make DUI's diverse again.

Demographic percentages are Baton Rouge.

I agree. Penalties for drunk or impaired driving need to be more severe.

Same for distracted driving. Almost get hit every day with idiots updating their Facebook status.

Now that weed is legal I think we need to take the “legalize it” slogan

Maybe the flag could have a steering wheel and a can on it instead of a weed leaf
