My wife has won it in multiple parishes and she's not like that at all.

I think you're thinking of the other male teacher there who actually WON Teacher of the Year. That teacher is a married straight male and one hard-arse instructor on his AP students. But he's getting em ready for college and keeps his relationships with students focused on their schoolwork. I know this for a fact.
The openly gay teacher in question was just a finalist, NOT a winner.
He had been having a relationship with a senior male student.
While stupid and will get him charged with a crime in Louisiana and will likely end his teaching career(unless he goes to BRCC or SLU),
he's not exactly a pedo nor will he be a registered sex offender.

I don't know him personally but my wife does and she says Marc is a very nice and stand-up guy. She claims this was the last thing she'd expect from him. He's very, very well respected within the school district for his professionalism so as you can imagine everyone who knows him is shocked and has been in disbelief since this all started.
Not defending him, though. If he is guilty of what he's being accused of then he belongs in jail.
